So I take the notion of a canon timeline with a graint of salt, but when I look at the official one on their website (http://zelda.com) I just kinda go "whuuuh??". Source: 10 months ago
I agree this is the most likely case mostly based on what the developers wanted out of Breath of the Wild. They confirmed it was a long time in the future (idr where though, someone else is welcome to help there) so far ahead of whatever timeline it's in that past Zelda games were considered having faded into legend. Also, if you check out zelda.com, half the content on that site is dedicated to getting you real... Source: 11 months ago
I didn't know until seeing this comment that the timeline was featured so heavily on zelda.com. I don't commonly go to official sites like that. Basically half that site, which is official, is dedicated to the timeline established by the Historia, damn. Source: 11 months ago
But zelda.com for BOTW 2 says on their website that their game is eligible for the game voucerhs...but Ryza 3 website doesn't. Source: about 1 year ago
The fun.com incident is so funny, whenever people don't believe me I show them the proof on the wayback machine lmao. It's how I found out zelda.com was a porn site too well into 1999. Nintendo probably had a field day getting that taken care of. Source: about 1 year ago
I know this because this issue came up before in the 90's when domain squatting was huge. A guy owned the domain zelda.com and made it a porn site. Before Ocarina of Time was released, Nintendo tried to take it based on copyright claim. It was denied since a name can't be trademarked. Nintendo had to pay a lot of money to buy the domain from the squatter. Source: almost 2 years ago
It was! The other big one that I remember from high school was zelda.com. Source: about 2 years ago
Man, I remember when zelda.com and whitehouse.com were straight up porn sites. The good old days. Source: about 2 years ago
I seem to remember either of these guys talking about what zelda.com used to be about (a porn site) before the 2000's, when Nintendo bought the site. Source: over 2 years ago
