It needs a driver, looks like there is one here: https://github.com/medusalix/xow. Source: almost 2 years ago
Been using Xbox One Elite controllers (both gen 1 and 2) for a couple years now without issue and I even use the proprietary Xbox wireless USB dongle. If you use this "xone" driver then it just works as it does in Windows. It's an evolution of the older "xow" driver where you'd just have to run a command to invoke the pairing process, if anyone was familiar with that driver. Source: about 2 years ago
You need an Xbox wireless dongle, disabling read-only mode and install xow driver. https://github.com/medusalix/xow. Source: about 2 years ago
I own 2 Xbox controllers, and I'm wondering if the wireless adapter works on Linux natively, or if I need to install other drivers, like xpadneo or XoW? Source: about 2 years ago
Can you not use the xbox wireless adapter? There is https://github.com/medusalix/xow which I have used on linux and it works perfectly fine. (I have no idea how and if it can be installed on the steamdeck though because I don’t own one). It requires a systemd service though, which might not be so trivial to set up on the steam deck. Dongle works fine with medusalix xow driver, but you have to set it up once. Source: over 2 years ago
You can download 3rd party drivers from here https://github.com/medusalix/xow . I have tested it with 4 Xbox one controllers and it seems to work flawlessly. Installation is a bit of a pain if you don't know Linux but it does work. Source: over 2 years ago
I've used xow driver by the same author and it's worked very well for me. Source: over 2 years ago
I'm using a xbox series x/s controller with the standard wireless dongle and it works perfectly with the xone driver. The legacy xow driver has some issues with the newer dongles (at least in my case), but works great anyway. Source: over 2 years ago
On windows I had nothing but trouble connecting it to bluetooth. After getting the dongle it's worked perfectly ever since. Maybe try that with the linux driver? Source: over 2 years ago
Hey I just did a fresh install of ubuntu 22.04 and I'm having trouble trying to install something. I'm following this to be able to connect my xbox controller. How do I fix this? Source: over 2 years ago
This was copied from Stackoverflow and helped me with latency issues. Be warned that bluetooth support is quite bad for XBOX Series Controllers a Dongle will serve you better with xow. Source: over 2 years ago
I've been wanting to use my Xbox One controller wirelessly with the official dongle for it. This wasn't possible with xow, and I settled with using a long USB-C cable for a bit. Now that xone is out though, it works with the official dongle, and the instructions for installing it actually just-worked! Source: over 2 years ago
You might need the wireless usb dongle and the custom linux driver at https://github.com/medusalix/xow and even then you'd probably have to unlock the read only mode of steamos to install it. In regards to official chatpads anyway. Source: over 2 years ago
Hello there, im trying to make the microsoft xbox controller work (newest version for PC) with the dongle (its my only option the BT on my PC is bad, but it doesnt work. I tried xow https://github.com/medusalix/xow and so far im hitting always the same error! What can I do about this?! At this point im almost out of ideas, not the best yet with linux. I'm following this guide Https://github.com/medusalix/xow. Source: almost 3 years ago
But since it's a kernel driver ( opposed to xow that is in user-space ) I was curious to know if I'll need to turn on dev mode on SteamOS to be able to install it. Source: almost 3 years ago
That seems like a lot more work than just using xow that's how I use my Xbox series x controller https://github.com/medusalix/xow. Source: almost 3 years ago
I personally use Xbox One controllers with wireless adapter (thanks to xow) but it was because of the time I used Windows. Source: almost 3 years ago
I've been attempting to install xow. I've tried both xow and xow-git from the AUR as well as a manual build following the instructions on Git. All of these methods spit out the same error:. Source: almost 3 years ago
