  • X410's Microsoft Store Bait and Switch
I can't even access this page. Archive link: https://web.archive.org/web/20230000000000*/https://x410.dev/news/starting-from-version-3-6-0-you-can-now-purchase-a-subscription-for-x410-from-microsoft-store/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Minimal Cross-Platform Graphics
Super interesting! > It is janky though So what? It can be improved :) Would you like to try to make an APE out of it? It would then be not just different Linuxes, but also MacOS and Windows, a bit like https://x410.dev/ or the free software vcxserv https://sourceforge.net/projects/vcxsrv/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Operating System
If you want to use GUI apps in WSL, x410 is far superior to any other X server or wslg. Yeah, it's not free, but it's well worth the cost and is frequently on sale at a great discount. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Part of Windows 11 is a revamped Windows Subsystem for Linux
Not if you use an X server that's specifically designed for it: https://x410.dev/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Frustrating ergonomics of GDNative in 3.3 -- are these addressed for 4.0?
I also work off Windows, but I've been able to run of Linux via WSL and x410.dev. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • GUI app support is now available for the Windows Subsystem for Linux
Yes Microsoft does have an incentive to make a POSIX dev env available on their OS and also make the experience of using it not suck. I'm curious as to why they didn't just purchase https://x410.dev/ and integrate that into WSLv2 as it has hidpi support already too. Also If Microsoft is able to get GPU compute working with native performance I would absolutely switch back from M1 mac. - Source: Hacker News / about 3 years ago
  • How Good is the Development Experience in Windows with WSL2 in 2021?
I'm also using some GUI apps from time to time and X servers on Windows work pretty good. I'm using https://x410.dev/ for that. It's commercial/paid app but it's based on Xming if I remember correctly so if you've got time and patience to configure it you'll be good to go. I even was able to tunnel my Raspberry Pi to X using SSH tunnel on WSL2. Source: about 3 years ago
  • What PC and Operating sysem do you use for your Work?
Https://x410.dev/ this is what I'm talking about with x410, it's a paid wrapper around xfce but it's like $10 or $15 one time cost and well worth it to not have to fiddle as much. Source: about 3 years ago
