  I also had the same issue. On Nov 25 last year, they posted that source.unsplash.com was being depreciated and replaced with an API: https://changelog.unsplash.com/deprecations/2021/11/25/source-deprecation.html.   As for unsplash they opened their api for low traffic use. It's pretty nice to add a collection or pictures you like on a rotation. I've discovered though that what they call id is divided into 2 types: numerical and alpha numerical. The alpha numerical id don't really work. Anyway you should check their website Here. • Trying to load a random number within 1-100 in an image path - like so "url(random(100))" -- This image path works if its to a direct file(without a jpg extension even, to keep it simple), but I cant seem to get it to generate random numbers up to a 100.

  You can pull random images from unsplash with the unsplash source API though. I helped someone else do that a while back. You have to make an account and upload all your images there. And then you can create a static URL whose response will be a random image from within the parameters you specified, e.g. Within your account, within certain size constraints, etc. Of course, the downside is remote images load more...   If you use an image from source.unsplash.com it will change on every reload. But, if you download an image that you like directly from unsplash.com, and then link it in then it should be fine. Making it responsive to screen size is different. You need to add css of. Source: almost 3 years ago
