I started purchasing Ubiquiti products for my home a few years back. I'm up to having a USG, Switch 8, and UAP AC Pro all managed by a gen 1 cloudkey. I do have some weird problems from time to time but overall things work great. One notable exception, though, is the cloud key itself. Each time my house loses power (not all the time, but a few times a year, at least) it's a battle to see if it'll load up... Source: about 1 year ago

The best way to do this without a 2nd public IP is with a proper, configurable router with at least three interfaces. Something like this. You'd set it up so that WAN1 and LAN1 perfrom their usual functions, but then you'd set up WAN2/LAN2 with a separate LAN. For my Unifi setup I'm using the old USG and three AP's. I could get away with two but when I upgraded to Wifi 6 I kept the old AC-LR around for my 2 GHz smart devices I run my IOT VLAN on it. Source: over 1 year ago

This why we went with bridge mode with commercial-grade network gateway, a switch & wireless access points that are all connected using LAN cables to improve wifi, LAN, response time and maximizing throughput. Source: almost 2 years ago
Hi everyone, I’m new to the homelabbing scene and I want to start building out some systems. The only thing I've built so far is a simple network using a Ubiquity gateway connected to a 24-port Ubiquity PoE switch, one WiFi access point, and the Unifi controller which is running off of a Windows NUC. They’re all sitting in a 15u rack, and I have 9u of usable space remaining. Source: about 2 years ago
