  • ELI5: How can there be "weak" chess bots?
Bots that are trying to play well, but are poorly coded. Not every chessbot is made by a team of people who know what they're doing. Every once in a while someone who is learning how to program will try their hand at making a bot from scratch. Or as a fun challenge will code a bot with some kind of restriction. SEE The Kilobyte's Gambit These kinds of bots often do play like people, but like beginners. They have... Source: 11 months ago
  • Anarchy chess
Example: The website https://vole.wtf/kilobytes-gambit/ has a toy chess engine written in 1 kilobyte of Javascript. The website had to put this disclaimer at the bottom of the screen. Source: about 1 year ago
  • What is a good bot to train on as a very early beginner?
When I was starting out, when I was having a bad day I'd play against The Kilobytes gambit. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Found this old Radio Shack chess computer in my uncle's department. Any knowledge about this?
There's an entire chess engine which is just 1024 BYTES of Javascript: The Kilobyte's Gambit. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How is it possible to win a chess match against AI?
Much like humans - some AIs aren't very good. Unlike checkers or Connect 4 chess isn't "solved": there's no existing AI or strategies that can win 100% of the time. Chess is just much too complicated for that, as the number of available moves becomes truly ridiculous as a game goes on. High level AI in Chess is very good, and barring some sort of time control espionage can't be beat by humans in any capacity. But... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Based on a true story
If you want some extreme minima of what can be done, there's the engine that's only 1024 bytes of javascript. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Try beating my chess engine
I used 1.a3 to get it to play against The kilobyte's gambit. Source: about 2 years ago
  • What is the maximum performance a chess engine be if it was limited to 1 depth?
Related: The kilobyte gambit is a chess engine written in one kilobyte (~1000 characters) of Javascript (as a programming challenge). Due to the size limitation, it is basically a brute-force search of depth 4 ply with a super-simple heuristic. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Name three reasons to play online anywhere other than Li***** and *****.com
I play Chess here because it is a good way to kill time when on endless video conferences and I found the programmed under 1mb of code thing really cool. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Virgin Atheist lore vs. Chad Christian lore
This is a chess program that's just 1 KB. You could fit over a thousand programs of that complexity in a single 1 MB drive. You managed to prove my point accidentally! Source: over 2 years ago
  • Micro-Max, a 133-line Chess Source
There's also The Kilobyte's Gambit [1], which is a chess engine written in 1024 bytes of JavaScript. [1] https://vole.wtf/kilobytes-gambit/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • [Intro] Finally saying hi!
G'Day and welcome! Have you tried playing chess against 1kb of JavsScript? Https://vole.wtf/kilobytes-gambit/ It took me 20 attempts to finally beat it. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • 1024 Byte JavaScript Chess Engine Review – The Kilobyte's Gambit [video]
Here is the engine itself if you want to play a game of chess against 1KB of JavaScript! https://vole.wtf/kilobytes-gambit/. - Source: Hacker News / about 3 years ago
  • Minimalistic chess program. Engine is only 1024 bytes...
Similar engine that you can play against on a website here https://vole.wtf/kilobytes-gambit/ Its also 1kB and plays pretty good I think! Source: about 3 years ago
