Much like humans - some AIs aren't very good. Unlike checkers or Connect 4 chess isn't "solved": there's no existing AI or strategies that can win 100% of the time. Chess is just much too complicated for that, as the number of available moves becomes truly ridiculous as a game goes on. High level AI in Chess is very good, and barring some sort of time control espionage can't be beat by humans in any capacity. But... Source: over 2 years ago
