  • Ask HN: Tooling for Learning to Play Piano?
Synthesia As a vistual learner and grapgical thinker, those music score on paper are all bullshit to me. Only this can help me out. You can import your own MIDI into it. Practice the shit out of it and at least can play 1 or 2 fairly advanced songs. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • You can learn how to play a piano song with the Meta Quest 3 without having to go back and forth with a YouTube video.
I suggest using Synthesia instead. Doesn't require a VR headset, is not made by Facebook, and does the same job. Source: 6 months ago
  • Best software for learning piano with midi keyboard?
I've got Synesthesia installed, which is pretty good (and has a free version) but doesn't show hand positions and has a limited number of song options. Source: 7 months ago
  • Show HN: Learn piano without sheet music
Synthesia has done this exact solution for well over a decade now. But there’s also the option to read generated sheet music and adjust the playback and gradung in many ways. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • If you had the ability to instantly learn any skill or profession, what would you choose and why?
If you have a keyboard try using Synthesia! Source: 11 months ago
  • Developer tools to create spatial experiences for Apple Vision Pro now availabl

  • [NeedAdvice] I am addicted to self-improvement content.
Btw synesthesia is a great for learning the piano and DuoLingo is pretty good for Spanish. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Melodics recognizes the Launchpad Pro MK3, but not the Launchkey 61 MK3
You could look into Synthesia, a one-time small payment and not a subscription model, if you like it after trying it. You just need to supply your own MIDI "song" files for your lessons, so you don't get all of the lessons like Melodics has. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Visualized "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy"
It's not perfect but this might work. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Keyboard Played Thru Laptop
Synthesia has a free trial, and it's currently on sale for the holidays: Https:// Source: over 1 year ago
  • Is there a website or application where you can hook up a midi keyboard and play songs in a way similar to games like Osu!Mania?
Hmm synesthesia? I haven’t tried it myself, but I think it might be what you’re looking for. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How does one learn piano?
My favorite way is with synthesia. It's a software that lets you play along with any MIDI file for a song and you can have it isolate each hand or play with both at the same time. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I covered Free in the Knowledge on piano - full version in comments =]
The program is Synthesia. It's meant to be a piano training game. I've never used it that way, but it does let you import any MIDI file, annotate the notes in different colours, and play the file back. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I made a midi to led interface with an esp32. More in comments.
Can you make it so that it helps you play Synthesia files? Source: almost 2 years ago
  • I built a piano teacher with MIDI support
I have been learning piano with a program called "Synesthesia". It'd be really cool if music theory lessons and practice could be rolled into, or offered as part of, it. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Show HN: Piano Trainer – Learn piano scales, chords and more using MIDI
Haven't seen anyone else mention this in the comments, but Synthesia is something I used in the past There's a free trial, but the $29-39 for the full-featured paid edition is well worth it. I was able to connect a 88 key electronic keyboard, load my favorite custom MIDI files (when I could find them) and try to play along with it. Not knocking anything you've done here OP :) just... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • 10 Actual Sightreading Tips

  • Can't Learn Instruments For The Life Of Me But I Wanna Play Live... What Do I Do Lol
If you want to learn piano -> Synthesia Source: about 2 years ago
  • I covered Age of Anxiety I on solo piano - please check it out =]
I record my keyboard's MIDI output then view it in a programme called Synthesia, which creates the falling note effect. Some people assume I'm "reading" the falling notes when it actually just represents what I'm playing. Source: about 2 years ago
  • MIDI Visualizer written in processing
Loopop does some good visualisations using off the shelf scope components from Melda and the midi visualisation from Synthesia. But if you want some Emmy Award level stuff check out this doco by NYT on Bieber, Diplo, & Skrillex Make a Hit. Source: about 2 years ago
  • I want to learn to play piano but not interested in learning detailed theory. I just want to keep piano playing as a side hobby and don't even want to be an advanced player , how should I start ? I don't have either time or money for offline classes. I have a 61 key keyboard.
Try this just pick a song you like and follow the colors. Source: about 2 years ago
