Its vastly smaller than LAX, so quicker to get in and out of, shorter lines at security, etc. And its closer than LAX to places like Hollywood. If CT means New York metro area, you can get nonstop to Burbank on JetBlue from JFK. Otherwise likely looking at at least one stop, but I imagine there's no non-stops to LAX either unless... But ultimately, I suggest booking direct with the airline you will fly. Many sites have price graphs where you can see the prices on different days. On the last page, I fill out all the passenger/payment/etc info and click the purchase button and it goes to 3 dots for a second and then button just comes back. Doesn't actually purchase the ticket.   Southwest flights don't show up on expedia etc so you must book at southwest.comYou need to show up at southwest about 90 mins before flight time if you have bags to check, so I would say 4 hours after your scheduled arrival from Mexico might be a safe bet.   You cannot add a lap child at time of booking on southwest.com or via the app. You have to call or email after the fact to add them. Once you add them, it no longer allows you to check in online due to having to get boarding documentation for your baby. I am all for the added security.
