You can create, name, and set variables anywhere in rpg maker. You'll have to program the system what the variables do yourself. I know I'ts possible I did a custom battle system in rpgmaker way back, without using the inbuilt battle system. I'd suggest visiting rpgmaker.net or revelant reddit/discords for more infos. Unfortunately, according to the Web Archive, around 2012 the developer pulled a disappearing act and wiped all traces of the game on rpgmaker.net and the official website from the Internets. (While I'll always respect the decision of creators to do this kind of thing, as the erstwhile developer of a janky-but-could-be-worse RM2k3 game released around the same time that still wallows in the depths of rm.net to this... -the link moves you to a mediafire download, where the ONLY available and downloadable file is for windows (even when checking of felixthejudge's old Tumblr page, and 'rpgmaker.net', it still won't work). Source: almost 3 years ago
I'm being slightly vague here to prevent any misunderstandings, but back in the day in rpg communities including what used to be bigger sites like rpgmaker.net among others, there was a program that would generate a license to use to either stall a trial or make the software think its registered. I will heed your warning, but I honestly don't think Square Enix cares much about Dragon Quest or FF fan games. I don't think they see them as a threat. I've been working on this since 2012 and have been documenting the development on rpgmaker.net as well. Source: about 3 years ago
I guess that any worthwhile ones are a available here, anyways: https://rpgmaker.net/. Source: about 3 years ago
Notable: rpgmaker.net has a goldmine of tutorials for 2k3. Source: about 3 years ago
I am not sure if this should be posted here, as I know the titles of the games but I can't seem to find them anymore. I used to be a frequent visitor to websites like itch.io and rpgmaker.net to find interesting indie games and I was a big fan of games like Ib and OFF. Source: over 3 years ago
Heartache 101, which is freeware for Windows available on rpgmaker.net. It doesn't offer much in graphics or story. Play it for its simulation gameplay. The player can skip the ten minute story intro. Improving stats and buying items can help the protagonist discover new locations and meet more NPCs. There's a board game interface which generates random events. Finally, the game enables some customization. Source: over 3 years ago
By the way, regardless of whether you have a browser game or downloadable game, you'll still have to tell people somehow about your game (via social media or other websites, like here, or the official forums, or https://rpgmaker.net/, etc). Itch.io doesn't really do any marketing for you. Source: over 3 years ago
Https://rpgmaker.net/ is also a good place to post RPG Maker games. I don't recall if you can actually attach your demo there, but you can definitely link to your game's website once you have set it up on Itch.io. Source: over 3 years ago
It seems like you like RPG Maker games. The best place to find out about them is rpgmaker.net. In particular check out their yearly awards page at https://rpgmaker.net/misaos/. You can just look at any year and check out the game with the most awards for the Game of the Year and it will probably be a great game. And a tip is, dont just look at the most recent years, start at the beginning, the earlier years have... Source: over 3 years ago
Ohh, that's interesting. Since I used to dev too (it's something I ought to get back too lol it was fun !! ~ ) I always checked websites like itch.io and rpgmaker.net for game jams and new stuff, and always had a blast even with free games so I agree that there are a lot of gems. Whew - thanks a lot for this list!! Gonna save this and check them slowly!! Source: over 3 years ago
Heartache 101. This freeware game is exclusive to rpgmaker.net. No voice acting, not much in terms of graphics or story, but a lot of simulation gameplay. Source: over 3 years ago
As far as specific scripts, I can't help you there (the latest version I have is VX Ace, and that's in a completely different coding language). But if you can't find a plug-in for exactly what you want and there's no way to do it through eventing, you may have to ask the community for help. r/RPGMaker, rpgmaker.net, and https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php are some places I know where you could probably get... The Way, has 6 episodes. You can find it on rpgmaker.net. Source: over 3 years ago
It's on rpgmaker.net and it's completely free, nothing like the other 2 tho, the game is called LISA: The First, honestly I'm not sure if I'd recommend it. Source: over 3 years ago
I haven't played either yet, but both have positive reviews on rpgmaker.net so I assume both are pretty good. Source: over 3 years ago
If you like to play games you can play these two games. For endroll you can play it on via pc or mobile. I played it on mobile and you need an app called easyrpg. Its an app that lets you run rpgmaker games for 2000 and 2003 rpgmaker engines. If you want to play it on mobile you just need to install easyrpg and learn how to download games for it on youtube. I downloaded the data from rpgmaker:... Source: over 3 years ago
If it is a RPG Maker game, it might even be gone. Just searched for Turnabout Steampunk (Ace Attorney fan game) and it's just blogs refering to a rpgmaker.net page that was deleted. Source: over 3 years ago
Rpg maker games!! They are (90%) free, (99%) turn-based, they are absolutely not intensive on any system, and there are so many of them that you can never get bored. also, most of them are very unique, and, while there is some trash, of course, there are hundreds of really great ones. One of my absolute favourites is umbral soul. also, rpgmaker.net is in general the best site to find them, it is their biggest... Source: over 3 years ago
