Within Colorado, the COTrex app is pretty good. Elsewhere, I've had good luck with ridewithgps.com premium to explore and find popular routes. For that purpose, their web interface is better than the app. I used it recentlly to discover a really neat 4 mile loop near our hotel in North Platte, Nebraska. Source: 6 months ago
I initially went to ridewithgps.com to see heat maps of what others have done and it appears most skirt the outer edge and pass by it all. Source: 10 months ago

Go to Komoot.com or to ridewithgps.com and plan. You can also look at bikepacking.com for partial routes or the European Divide trail. It's your trip, go where you like. Source: 10 months ago
I’m having difficulty hearing the turn-by-turn instructions from Callimoto app. I have a Schuberth C4 pro helmet with the dedicated Sena 10U unit and an iPhone 13. The volume and clarity are fine up to about 50 mph, but anything above and it’s difficult to hear. I plan journeys using ridewithgps.com and export my route as a .gpx file. Calimoto seems to be one of the few apps I’ve found for bikes that support .gpx,. Source: 11 months ago
For planning I rate RideWithGPS.com (never got on with Komoot) which has loads of different map tiles available including OpenCycleMap and lets you really easily jump between different tile sets and street view while you plan. Source: 11 months ago
I like RideWithGPS best, more so than Komoot (better UI, easier to create routes) https://ridewithgps.com/. Source: 11 months ago

Most also post routes on RideWithGPS (https://ridewithgps.com/ ). These are good if you want to do them on your own. Strava’s heat map and Kamoot are also good resources for identifying good routes. Source: 12 months ago

Try RidewithGPS or BRouter for turn-by-turn directions that will prioritize shoulders, sharrows, bike lanes, and multi-use trails over just any road. Source: about 1 year ago
The route planner on https://ridewithgps.com/ shows you little markers every few kilometers. For me that's good enough, if I want to stop every 100km it's easy to see roughly where those places would be. Source: about 1 year ago
