  • RetroArch cannot be found on the PlayStore, the first result is a copycat. It is just me?
No, isn't just you. Every 64-bit phone haves the Play Store Retroarch available, the 32-bits no. But you can still download the 32-bit version on the Retroarch website. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Cause of the intrusion has been found and isolated. Sites are operational again.
It was only the download links on retroarch.com on the Platforms page that got (briefly) redirected for a few hours. That should all be safe now. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Malicious download links?
Yes, only the retroarch.com and libretro.com websites were affected. Source: almost 3 years ago

  • Latest RetroArch on Xiaomi Mi box
I've got installed RetroArch Plus from Google Play on my Xiaomi Mi box 4k and I want to update it to the latest version. I downloaded apk from retroarch.com but when I use apk installer to update it say is not compatible. I removed version from Google Play but fresh install 1.15.0 is not compatible too. I tried 32 and 64 version. What I'm doing wrong? Is any other AndroidTV version? Source: almost 3 years ago
  • I know its an emulator but...
If it's still giving you issues, try using Retroarch and the SNES9X core. You can install it directly through Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1118310/RetroArch/) and use the Big Picture mode (since it looks like you're going into a TV?) or as a stand-alone (https://retroarch.com/ , you can add the stand-alone into Steam as well for Big Picture mode). I think Steam might handle controllers a little better... Source: about 3 years ago
  • Why the heck is retroarch running so badly? All of a sudden it just started running literally EVERYTHING, no matter the game or console super poorly, and iirc I didnโ€™t change any of the settings. Steam says itโ€™s up to date too and it doesnโ€™t have any other problems with my other games.
Have you tried using the non-steam Version? You can download it on https://retroarch.com. Source: about 3 years ago
  • How can I get PCSX ReArmed on V90 to read chd files
If you want to run RetroArch on your V90, you can grab the V90 version of RetroArch from retroarch.com. RetroArch has a bit of a learning curve and is not as easy to use as the default emulators. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Episode 3:
Oh if you ever want to try the ds version you can get the rom from here https://vimm.net/vault/19184 and play it with retroarch here https://retroarch.com/ using the desume ds emulator core. Source: over 3 years ago
  • 32 or 64 bit for Android?
If possible, you should sideload the apk from retroarch.com instead of using the one(s) from the Play Store, as we cannot update the one in the Play Store until we have full compliance with Google's "scoped storage" requirements. Source: about 4 years ago
  • How To Play Dos Games From GOG With PS4 Controller? (Using DS4 Windows)
I don't know how well these games specifically run on it, I don't have then, but my go-to app for retro gaming with a controller is RetroArch. I've used the DOSBox-Pure core there to play some DOS games with controller, worked really well. You can zip the game folder and load in RetroArch just like you would load a ROM in a console emulator. Source: about 4 years ago

I tried install RetroArch from play store (V1.9.14) but failed, I tried both the normal and plus version . The apk can be downloaded but installation failed at near 100%. Thanks a lot. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Does anyone have the final fantasy iv pixel remastered apk?
My honest opinion is , Instead of apks and mods, download an emulator like retorarch or Drastic(paid mod) , and download the rom(I don't know if I'm allowed to link it here, just search on YouTube , there are many good ones) for the game and play it on there , much better experience and performance imo. Summary of the public mentions of RetroArch

Public Opinion and Overview of RetroArch

RetroArch, a versatile open-source front-end for emulators, enjoys widespread acclaim in the emulation and retro-gaming communities. Its unique structure, which allows users to download and manage emulator "cores" for a variety of gaming consoles, sets it apart from many other emulation platforms.

Strengths and Features

One of RetroArchโ€™s primary strengths is its flexibility and breadth of support for a wide range of gaming systems. Unlike standalone emulators that focus on individual consoles, RetroArch can emulate numerous systems through its core system, making it an all-in-one solution for retro gaming enthusiasts. This approach requires a bit of a learning curve, but users often find it worthwhile for the breadth of functionality it offers.

RetroArch is lauded for its robust feature set, which includes advanced options such as shaders, netplay, local multiplayer over network, rewinding, and run-ahead to reduce latency. Users also benefit from features like blind accessibility, customization of user input, and support for a multitude of controller types, providing extensive personalization. These features are particularly highlighted in discussions about its ability to deliver a superior and tailored gaming experience.

Additionally, RetroArch's open-source nature is a significant draw. The platform is free, with a strong support community that continually updates and improves its functionality. This community-driven development model ensures that RetroArch stays relevant and robust, adapting to new technologies and user needs over time.

Challenges and Public Concerns

Despite its versatility, RetroArch is not without challenges. Users have mentioned issues related to its initial complexity and setup process. The necessity to install and configure multiple cores can be daunting for newcomers, which might make other emulators with more user-friendly interfaces appealing to some.

Recently, there have been concerns over RetroArch's online distribution, specifically issues with malicious download links on its official sites. Although these concerns were addressed swiftly, they highlight potential vulnerabilities in its infrastructure which can affect user trust. Moreover, certain users have experienced compatibility issues, especially on platforms like Android TV and specific smart TVs, where installation and operation have proved problematic.

Another point frequently mentioned is the disparity in performance between different builds or cores, particularly when shifting from Android to PC platforms. The differences between versions available directly from the RetroArch site and those from app distribution platforms like the Google Play Store can also cause confusion and inconsistencies in performance.

Community and Competitors

In the competitive landscape of emulators, RetroArch remains a formidable player against alternatives such as OpenEmu, LaunchBox, and BSNES. While OpenEmu provides a more user-friendly experience on macOS with its intuitive interface and gallery view, it doesn't support as wide a range of consoles as RetroArch. Similarly, other competitors like Batocera.linux and RetriX serve niche parts of the market but can't match RetroArchโ€™s extensive system emulation.

In conclusion, RetroArch stands out as a powerful and flexible tool for retro gaming enthusiasts ready to invest in learning its mechanics. While it faces valid criticisms, particularly regarding ease of use and distribution issues, its strong community support and continuous development ensure it remains a cornerstone of the emulation ecosystem. Users seeking a comprehensive and customizable emulation experience will find it a worthwhile investment.
