  • Ask HN: Looking for a Firefox compatible extension for voice controlled actions
I do all my computing by voice but just use normal programs with simple keyboard-like voice control. I use the https://qutebrowser.org web browser and https://numenvoice.org (which I also develop). - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • using keyboard
There are some keyboard centered browsers like Qutebrowser or Nyxt. For Firefox as well as for Chrome based browsers there exist several extensions to implement vim-like keybindings. Source: 10 months ago
  • Nyxt browser: Unable to configure xdg-desktop-portal
NOTE: Other WebKit based browsers (qutebrowser, luakit) work fine on my machine. Source: 10 months ago

  • Ask HN: Is there a web browser, that's just a browser?
I’m thinking about giving Orion another try after discovering focus mode and realizing my liking for vertical tabs (Safari’s compact mode isn’t great for multiple tabs). There’s also OmniWeb, which apparently isn’t actively developed, but still receives test builds https://omnistaging.omnigroup.com/omniweb/?pk_vid=f30b22839252842b1685135259c2df28 Pale Moon is back on MacOS https://www.palemoon.org/download.shtml... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • Nyxt: The Hacker's Browser
You should also checkout https://qutebrowser.org/ which is pretty mature. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • Vimium – The Hacker's Browser
There's also a free, open source vim style browser called Qutebrowser which you can control like Vim if that's your thing. It works well, also with complicated web sites. https://qutebrowser.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • python as search engine
Python Def try_function(arg): if arg == 'niceness': return f'https://google.com/search?q={arg}' return 'https://qutebrowser.org'. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why Google and Apple act the way they do, working to snuff out the mobile web
If Mozilla can't get into Mobile and Desktop PWAs maybe someone else in the Linux GUI space will. I sure hope so. I'm excited by https://qutebrowser.org/ It seems very user-driven but it's niche users which doesn't quite include me. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • I'm having a lot of trouble logging in to reddit with the terminal based browser lynx. How can I log in to reddit from the terminal?
Not sure if it'll work in lynx. Are you dead set on terminal? Or could you do something like Qute? Source: over 1 year ago
  • after all these years, finally I have them all (or at least almost all of them)
Yup, second one from the bottom left, see https://qutebrowser.org. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I made a browser extension that spoofs your location data to match your IP. It can also spoof your user agent.
Will it work with Qutebrowser? It uses QtWebEngine which is based on Chromium. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • f.lux
I haven't spent any time tweaking the threshold values, but maybe some tweaking would make it even better. [1] https://qutebrowser.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
  • Am I the only one who dislike Firefox?
Vieb and qute are based on chromium and are keyboard controled, agregore it's lighter in his revision 2 so you know, and finally falkon it's a web browser based in the qtweb engine which is a little bit heavier and I prefer his old version called qupzilla this one it's the link to vieb, this one to qute browser which is based o qt web engine too for agregore this one is the link and finally this one is the link... • A bug I opened 15 years ago was closed 4 hours ago
I know you might not be interested in anything chromium-based since this thread is about firefox, but qutebrowser[1] is a great solution for anybody looking for vimium/pentadactyl-like experience. [1] https://qutebrowser.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
  • "I'll figure it out" (I use arch btw)
I only use it for web development sometimes because my main browser (qutebrowser, it's a great browser with keybindings) doesn't support extensions (yet). Source: about 2 years ago
  • POLL: One month out from Steam Deck's launch, will you try out the new SteamOS 3.0?
Check out qutebrowser if a vim inspired keyboard oriented workflow tricks your trigger. (Based on chromium). Source: about 2 years ago
  • Gmail account security is insane
I use qutebrowser[0] which is built on qtwebengine, which is based on Chromium but comes with the caveat that it will likely be blacklisted by Google since it does not follow upstream's release schedule. But it is trivial to get around this by setting the user agent to something not blacklisted. [0] https://qutebrowser.org/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • User script and string encoding
It does work.. But clunkily. It doesn't seem to take care of the Encoding well. For example, pressing yo on the official Page of qb puts the following into my Clipboard.. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Which browser do you use?
The version in apt is very old and you should use the virtualenv method of installation. Just follow the guide in the official qutebrowser website. It's under the installation guides. Just clone the repository and run "python scripts/mkvenv.py" in the directory. That will set up the python virtual environment. Then if it doesn't give an error message run ".venv/bin/python -m qutebrowser" and that should open the... Source: over 2 years ago
