- All works made by me in Blender(modelling, lighting, cloth simulations, sculpting, simple rigging etc) and rendered in Cycles, sometimes using third-party (purchased or copyleft) materials for secondary objectives (such as bottles on background etc) from 3dsky.com Poliigon.com quixel.com. Hey man its moss from aixterior.com but I think you can find nice grass on quixel.com for free too :). Source: about 1 year ago
It could also be done with a PBR material with displacement. Quixel mixer is a great tool for that: https://quixel.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
I mean Quixel came out of Pakistan. That's pretty big. Source: over 1 year ago
I'm saying it's weird that you think bespoke crates are what makes a AAA game, it's also weird that you think AAA games don't use asset libraries. Source: over 1 year ago
Go to https://quixel.com and scroll halfway down the page then look at the scroll for all the studios that have used their projects. If its good enough for Star Wars, Cyberpunk 2077, Lion King, Resident Evil, Love Death & Robots, Demon Souls, Jumanji, Tomb Raider, The Division 2, The Jungle King, Shadow of the Colossus, Anthem, Battlefield V, Black Panther, American Gods, Metro Exodus, Justice League, and Destiny... Quixel Mixer. A little less fully-featured than Substance, but you can't argue with free. Source: almost 2 years ago
Only the guns are good. The other assets are from https://quixel.com and kinda suck. Source: almost 2 years ago
I download a lot of textures from both textures.com and quixel.com, and I keep getting maps labelled as "Translucency". For the life of me I have no idea what to do with them, but I get the concept. I'm trying to do things like leaf textures on planes, but rather than having flat, black, backfaces, I want there to be more of a transparency or glow effect. Source: over 2 years ago
What I was talking about is, for example, an individual artist using elements from texture and material libraries (in both 2D and 3D art). This is quite common. You as a player will never realize it. You're right that an outside contractor would usually disclose that, but there's often in-house licensed libraries that the staff devs use as there's no point reinventing the wheel sometimes for minor things. Don't... Source: over 2 years ago
If you just want to play and make maps. Check out brushify too. https://www.brushify.io Quixel is part of Unreal 5 so you can grab assets from there as well and make something for fun. https://quixel.com. Source: over 2 years ago
I recently started playing around with the mind-blowing MetaHuman (MH) feature from Unreal Engine. Through the Quixel Bridge editor, you can create and customize a highly realistic avatar in a few clicks, and send it to your Unreal project. Everything is fine-tuned to get the best of Unreal shaders and will leave you speechless 😍 I invite you to take a peek at it, plenty of resources out there. - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
Community management is an integral part of any game or game-adjacent space, like game art tools. Speaking as someone who's managed Quixel's community since 2014 I can say that I've... Seen some stuff in the past, and not all of it was something I want to repeat here. People can be vicious and cruel when everything is just words on a screen to them. Source: over 2 years ago
They also acquired Quixel Megascans, which you can use in their Unreal Engine. It seems this is part of a strategy to move up the chain to game assets. https://quixel.com/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
If the task is "to texture their models from fusion", so only CAD, maybe you can try something from this direction. Source: almost 3 years ago
Unreal Engine needs no introduction. It is the most powerful game engine in the world, with the best tools for game creation, the best library of assets (including full access to the mindblowingly realistic Quixel library of objects and textures), and a massive amount of high-quality tutorials both officially produced and by third party tutors. Source: almost 3 years ago
Both give you access to https://quixel.com/ for textures and materials for free. This seems to be unknown by most folks I've seen. Source: almost 3 years ago
Check out the Quixel Megascans megascans library. Totally free for UE4 users and contains a lot of quality assets like this that can be exported into UE4 with one click. It’s a great starting point for photo realistic assets. Plus there are tonnes of great tutorials available for it on YouTube. Source: about 3 years ago
