  • Internet extremely slow when not connected to VPN
I've tried a number of things from uninstalling the VPN, clearing DNS, trying to use dns, uninstalling and reinstalling network drivers, but nothing has worked. I'm starting to think it has something to do with Verizon or the router, but I really don't know nor am I an expert at this sort of thing. - Source: Reddit / 3 days ago
  • I would love some help with this issue i have regarding my ipv6
Hey, dunno if you're still looking for help on this, but there's a multicast filtering option on some wireless access points, that mess with IPv6. Also, overall slowness could be associated with a bad upstream DNS: using something like might help (I dunno offhand if the ISP does any special filtering that would require its DNS). - Source: Reddit / about 2 months ago
  • Anti Phishing
There's already competition in the space, you would need to prove that you're better than, Google's safe browsing that's built in, something like Password Alert, and most VPNs offer some safety features. - Source: Reddit / about 2 months ago
  • Deco homeshield subscription benefits?
Quad9 website with excellent information on their service HERE. They’re based in Switzerland which has extremely strict privacy laws, and Quad9 protects your privacy too with no logs, etc., while blocking malware, phishing, dangerous sites, etc., before they even hit your network. They’re also incredibly quick, faster for me than Google DNS or Cloudflare. - Source: Reddit / about 2 months ago
  • External Antenna 2 or 1
Until TMHI, I had kept IPv6 disabled on everything without exception, out of a sense of safety, because until recently I knew of no Internet security blacklists for IPv6. But has a good working DNS for all, with security blacklisting. So once I discovered that TMHI does IPv6 much faster, I set DNS on Windows and Linux to, and enabled v6 on everything. Very nice indeed. And also essential to... - Source: Reddit / 4 months ago
  • Game has been out for 10 years and this is still not fixed. No truck-, map-, tyre- whatever-mods.
This might be a longshot, but have you tried a different DNS resolver? If you're using the one from your ISP, I'd suggest switching to something more reliable since they tend to be rather flaky at times. Quad9 is a good option. - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago
  • [Q] Does the "buy an raspberry pi, configure it, and install pihole"-pdf still exist?
Cloudflare is a trustworthy company (generally) but I've pivoted over to Quad9 because its filtered lists are surprisingly effective and it's actually approved by Apple to issue DNS over HTTPS certificates. This means that I can have Quad9 doing DNS over HTTPS on my phone regardless of data *or* WiFi. - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago

Their website states that they “protect against a wide range of threats such as malware, phishing, spyware, and botnets”. - Source: Reddit / 7 months ago

For technologically savvy parents that snoop on your internet traffic... - with some sort of router configuration or parental controls through your cellular provider, use a VPN*. If someone ever notices and asks you why you are using a VPN, just say you heard it was good for your privacy. You don't have to mention Reddit at all. If you are on iOS and use iCloud you might be able to use Apple's... - Source: Reddit / 9 months ago

  • Has edge browser resolved the issue/bug of DNS not enabling or working in the windows browser (I know that the android version doesn't have DNS despite being the same as chrome which has it inbuilt) so that I start using it again? Microsoft Edge 101.0.1210.32
2 - I don't trust Cloudflare anymore. It collects logs and IP and isn't any privacy-friendly. I will opt for r/Windscribe control DNS or adguard r/Adguard DNS instead or at most quad9 Would there be any issue to opt for anything apart from given in the app and how can we add our own? - Source: Reddit / 11 months ago
  • Public wifi and https
At the very least, I'd setup DNS-over-HTTPS/DNS-over-TLS. Something like Quad9 or AdGuard, are worth looking into. VPNs are another great option, with more security, and DNS built in. There are tons of crap providers, but the only free option worth looking into is Proton. Do note. All these services have free options. You can get better, if you open your wallet, but these are good options. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
  • Enforce Use of Pi Hole for All LAN DNS
The rrdns server is how the reverse lookup for the Quad9 secondary server comes up. I don't know why it doesn't follow the convention, but that's how it is. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago

  • Bravia Core VPN, Proxy IP, Anonymizer Issue Has anyone encountered this issue and put on for any solutions? I have a Sony X90J wirelessly connected to TP-Link Archer A6 router. All other streaming apps work fine and I can play trailers in Bravia Core but I am unable to stream any movies.
Who is your ISP? Have to talked to Sony Support? Have you tried changing the DNS settings on the router to something like CloudFlare, Google DNS or Quad9? Have you tried restarting the router? Restarting your ISP modem? Restarting the TV by holding power button on remote for 5 seconds? Ultimately it may be something that is out of your control and not fixable if your ISP can't help you. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
  • Is google dns is the faster and cloudfare the sec. Which one you pick?
It varies the main issue with ISP provided servers is they often don’t follow standards. The most egregious way is lack of proper NXDOMAIN results where if you enter an invalid request instead of responding with an error message they send you to an awful ad ridden search page. An easy check for this is to goto an obviously fake hostname and see if you get a browser error page or a web portal. If your browser... - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
