  Just apply for Credit Card to build credit history. May be some bank will ask you to deposit $500 for Credit Card if you don't have credit history.   Unrelated, but not really: some years ago, there was an analysis done of loan requests on prosper.com. The highest default rate was associated with people who mentioned God, blessings or felt it necessary to state in their listing that they promised to pay. Source: over 2 years ago

  It's not all that crazy honestly. I use to stake money on prosper.com where you basically give crowd funded loans to people and assume the risk of loss on it. People with great credit paid you less because there was less risk and the money return was going to be pretty solid. However if you wanted to go after the B and C class loans, they paid a nice chunk of change more because those people were riskier... Source: over 2 years ago

  Right now it's invested in peer to peer lending at prosper.com. I had a great experience with P2P lending investing at lending club years ago before they stopped doing it. I have to say I'm not liking Prosper as much. I also saw mentions of a Vanguard account and 529 as other good options. Source: almost 3 years ago
