I just picked up a Velocomp PowerPod, a much less expensive way to measure power. It's different from other PMs in that it doesn't measure force directly, but instead measures the opposing forces and then figures out how much power you're putting out to achieve your current speed. It's not perfect, but according to many reviews it's surprisingly accurate. Just be aware: setup is fiddly, and not for the technically... Source: about 3 years ago
