Congrats to the framework team. This looks really awesome. I am looking to get one for sure. In particular I was extremely excited by the fact that Jack Humbert[1] is prototyping an ortholinear keyboard module[2]. I have 3 plancks and 1 prionic. Love me some Humbert keyboards, and it's an absolute dream to have an ortholinear keyboard on a laptop. [1] https://olkb.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
There are many affordable off the shelf options for the popular layouts and switches including razor keyboards. I'm weird so I have a planck with blank keycaps in addition to other things. Source: over 1 year ago
Just for clarification is it bought through https://olkb.com/ or is it from drop.com ? The drop.com one is known to have usb port issues , especially the rev6.x ones. Source: almost 2 years ago
My first mechanical keyboard was a 40% ortholinear, and I found the Planck fairly early on during my mk adventure. As much as I loved it though, I was disappointed that all the larger (and staggered) keyboards got to live in these really nice cases with fancy mounting styles that helped with the acoustics and feel. The default cases for the Planck keyboard, in contrast ... Left a lot to be desired. I wanted those... Source: almost 2 years ago

The oldest known use of the word was on TypeMatrix' web site, at least as far back as 2003 (as far back as the WaybackMachine goes...) but the company had been founded in 1997. Jack Humbert of OLKB ("OrthoLinear KeyBoards") has said that he got the term from there (ca 2014). He is known for popularising the term, but there have been several one-off ortholinear keyboards made by enthusiasts for themselves — and... Source: about 2 years ago
The same setup (case, pcb, plate) is $130 (not including shipping) from olkb.com, but the PCB is out of stock there as well. I took off $10 for the broken screw-in stabilizer mounting hole, plus my price includes shipping, so I feel like this is a fair deal. Feel free to pass if you think it's too high. I'm a fan of ortholinear 40% keyboards (https://keeb.io https://olkb.com have some good examples). Love the Levinson / Planck. Also, check out the foldkb. Source: over 2 years ago
I've seen the Planck EZ https://olkb.com/ on this site and it seems quite nice, but let me know if you have any suggestions. Source: over 2 years ago
Looking further through the wiki I found this guide, but it seems outdated: olkb.com doesn't seem to take plate designs for metal printing anymore. It also doesn't seem to answer my main questions. Source: over 2 years ago
Fairly certain this is a joke. If not...yikes. For anyone interested in escaping the world of sad layouts, check out some ortholinear options and/or ergo splits. https://olkb.com/ Also, look into QMK. For anyone who wants a more ergonomic keybind setup, check out some mnemonic namespacing stuff. Spacevim, Spacemacs, VSpaceCode (for vs code), etc. You can always take the approach and apply it to your existing... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Is this a user error or is there actually something wrong with my hardware. Also, where do I find documentation? I've looked on Drop and around a few other places. Drop provides a small pamphlet but that's it. I don't know how the reset button works or even what it resets. I had to find out from QMK how to put the Planck in bootloader mode. In general, it feels like a very unsupported experience from a user... Source: over 2 years ago
Instead, I'm going to tell you what I would do if I wanted to launch a product like this. You've got a defined user, even if it's only yourself, so that's good, you know your own needs and wants, so you can measure the progress of the project against that. First I would research tech packages, materials and processes, and ergonomics, that'll give you a good baseline from which to prototype. At a minimun you're... Source: over 2 years ago
I have a EOTW rev 6 Planck, and I want to get a case for it. olkb.com doesn't have the right combination of bottom case and top plate for MX switches. How often do things restock? Drop has the Planck, but I'll have to buy a whole new hi-pro or mid-pro kit. Source: almost 3 years ago
Would be nice to see them more promoted, if not endorsed, on olkb.com, personally I think matt3o does best job on ortho diversity at the moment. Source: almost 3 years ago
If you type a lot I highly recommend an ortholinear keyboard, https://olkb.com/ is a good example. I have a preonic and a Planck. The Planck is my favorite and is designed such that your fingers never have to travel more than 2 keys, which promotes speed, accuracy, and ergonomics since the keys are columnar instead of the traditional staggered layout.
