To avoid taking my word for it, let's explore these features using the source code of the well-known osu! project. This is one of the most popular open-source rhythm games with a large and dedicated community. We expected the code to be high-quality, but PVS-Studio analyzer still found potential issues. Using these examples, I'll demonstrate what static analysis tools can do. - Source: dev.to / 7 months ago

There are currently 2 different rank leaderboards: one for the stable client and one for the lazer client. The osu! Website shows rankings of the stable client while lazers ingame profile viewer shows the rank you achieved in the lazer client using the osu!lazer website. There are fewer people playing osu!lazer than the stable version which is why your rank is higher. Source: over 3 years ago

Those I have far less experience with, but there are a number of games that use regular midi controllers as inputs, and in particular open-source games that feature community support for custom music, like https://bemuse.ninja/project/ or https://clonehero.net/ . There has never been a better time to play rhythm games, either in terms of cost, variety, or availability. If nothing else, check out... Source: almost 4 years ago
While you technically don't need an account to play the game, downloading the game and making an account is highly recommended. Some of the content in this post assumes you have an account, so please make one if you don't have one! Source: almost 4 years ago
Bottom line is, QTEs were successfully implemented in many games, things like Osu! , while not for everyone, definitely has a dedicated audience on par with ShmUps, I would say. Source: almost 4 years ago
Okay, for mechanics, first things first, warm up every day for 5-15 minutes using a program like Oshu https://osu.ppy.sh/home (there are others like it out there; if you don't like that one, google another). Being able to click on what you want and not what you don't is the foundation of all mechanics. Source: almost 4 years ago

Osu! Free to play Elite Beat Agents clone. It is HARD. I have thousands of hours in this game and I'm not even great at it, just good. *Scanner Sombre. This was a great experience. You can rush it and beat it in a couple hours, or really take your time and uncover everything possible in 10-11 hours. It was really unlike anything I've ever played. Source: almost 4 years ago
