  For shaders, there's 2 types: vanilla shaders and shaders require mods. For vanilla shader, it can be done like how texture packs are used, but it's not common to find. For shaders with mods, start with installing a shader loader like Optifine, which can be used either individually after installing it, or with Forge mod loader; or you can use Iris shaders mod, which will need [Fabric mod loader](fabricmc.net) and...   Optifine is a “mod” (doesn’t really feel like one though) that improves FPS and overall performance. It’s also available to use when on servers even if the other people don’t have it.   Each MultiMC instance has its own saves folder, so your existing worlds won't show up. If you only want to use shaders and resource packs, you're probably best to install Optifine or Iris as an installation in the Minecraft Launcher, which uses the same saves folder for each installation.
