  • DIY Printers
Recently I fell into the core-XY style of printers found this Website for DIY printers and other machine but couldn't find any that fit the budget($$400-$600), and a lot of these build don't even have a parts list. Does anyone know of any printer kit or self-sourced that fall into my budget and also Core-XY. Source: 12 months ago
  • Is there a subreddit for how to make your own 3D printer?
A few years ago I also designed and built my own 3D printer (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2905423). The Reprap Community, as well as sites like Thingiverse and OpenBuilds (https://openbuilds.com/), were great to get inspiration. There is also a Reprap Wiki with plenty information: https://reprap.org/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Trying to Build a Pen Plotter
Might be better to ask in a CNC community. Try Lazer cutting. Their builds are probably closest to plotters in terms of speeds and weight etc. You might also like to look at https://openbuilds.com/ specifically their ACRO system as I think this is probably the best system suited to a plotter. • any European shop that ships worldvide extrusions etc.
Openbuilds.com ships internationally, and they occasionally do free international shipping even. a couple weeks back they had free international shipping even. with black friday sales coming up next week they may redo it. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Benchtop CNC Recommendations?
Check out https://openbuilds.com/. They have configurations for CNC, 3D printing, laser/plasma cutting, and more. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Need help getting started
Consider the machines at https://openbuilds.com, they are made of reusable components and can be upgraded easily. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Build help
Realistically, if this is any more than a hobby project/experiment in pushing the limits of hobby level CNC the bare minimum would be the Pocket NC I’ve looked at a lot of DIY designs and haven’t really found anything remotely sturdy enough for quality 5 axis in harder materials. You should have a look on the Openbuilds forum for some innovative custome builds and advice. 5th axis is something I would like to do... Source: about 2 years ago
  • Open source laser builds
You can also check out https://openbuilds.com/ Lots of designs, mostly based on aluminum extrusions from what I've seen. And you can build as big or small as your budget and space allows. Source: about 2 years ago
  • An Automatic Wire Stripper AND Cutter | No more manual tools! :)
I started out with the original shapeoko kit, and then bought 1m rails from https://openbuilds.com/. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Do you think that CNC prices will go down as technology progresses? I would want to get one but I don’t know the prices well and only can find them for over $2000
Try openbuilds.com for cheap CNC machines. Longmill is also low cost. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Is cnc ok for this application if so which one?
You should save your pennies, and get the best cnc you can get. I think you should avoid machines that are belt driven. Try openbuilds.com for really inexpensive machines. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Looking to build a smaller prusa xl / ultimaker clone
I love the simplicity of the first layer print for these devices, and the replaceable print heads. Any recommendations on building a device like those. I have searched openbuilds.com which is very helpful but I haven't seen anything like that. Source: over 2 years ago
  • 40%+ off Halloween Sale, Tronxy (email signup required)
I was not happy with any of the core-xy printers on the market, so I am building my own 510x510x500mm one. If you have time and notion to DIY it, check out https://openbuilds.com. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Looking for mechanical resources!
Mounts, bearing, pulleys, Oh My.... There are a lot of little details to work out and starting from scratch without any previous knowledge is very hard. You need mounts for the steppers, paths for the belts, mounting holes in plates for the wheels, etc.. It's probably better to copy someone else's build first. Check out openbuilds.com and go into their forums, there are a lot of user designed machines there that... Source: over 2 years ago
  • DIY continuous resin printer
As per where to post: https://hackaday.io/ or https://openbuilds.com/ or simply github. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Bulkman3D Lead CNC build up date :(
We were literally NOT on the same page :) , and I was looking at the video on openbuilds.com - not openbuildspartstore.com . The newer video you posted does indeed show a tensioning system! Source: over 2 years ago
