  • Haha thesaurus words go brrrrrrr
For those who haven't found it, yet, OneLook may be useful to you. https://onelook.com/thesaurus. Source: 10 months ago
  • what are words that go with shadow or undying (for a title of a character)
You might get some mileage out of OneLook Thesaurus or maybe RhymeZone searching by "Related". I prefer them over other dictionary/thesaurus offerings. Source: 11 months ago
  • Is there a thesaurus for unusual or obsolete words?
OneLook gives a lot of synonyms ranging from close matches to very distantly related words and concepts which I found helps a lot. It also lets you know if certain slang is obsolete or in what specific regions it is used. Source: 11 months ago
  • What’s up with WordHippo?! +What’s another good synonym website?
u/bees-n-sunshine introduced me to Onelook and it's pretty awesome. Source: 11 months ago
  • Ask HN: Most interesting tech you built for just yourself?
It's worth noting the best thesaurus I've found is onelook. Compare to the solitude results https://onelook.com/thesaurus/?s=solitude. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • What are your go-to resources?
Personally, OneLook Dictionary is my life's blood; especially the thesaurus version. Writer Duet is also great for screenwriting if you are like me and don't have the brain to remember the formatting (plus I think you can collab with other people on it, like G_Docs? I can't remember). Source: over 1 year ago
  • I’ve seen a MASSIVE uptick in people asking for “synonyms of X” in this sub, so here’s a dope resource:
I like to use OneLook Thesaurus. It allows for reverse search, where you describe the word that's on the tip of your tongue but can't remember right now. You can also re-order synonym lists to lean towards the direction you're looking for. I use that a lot when trying to find vibe words (like synonyms for "awful" leaning towards "horrific" rather than "lousy"). Source: over 1 year ago
  • Nothing gose better hand in hand than Thesaurus (the website) and searching if you'll sound to discordant with your target audience.
Theres actually a really convenient site for this!!! https://onelook.com/thesaurus/ One time I forgot the word for astronaut and literally typed in "sailors in space" and guess what??? It fucking worked. Absolutely lifechanging. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What is an interesting website that nobody knows about?
Https://onelook.com/thesaurus/ Https://onelook.com/reverse-dictionary For when you can remember the specific word you are looking for you can paraphrase it here and get the correct term. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Website to help with English?
Usually, I'm using onelook.com/thesaurus/ to find other similar/ more common words. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What thesaurus do you use?
What thesauruses/dictionaries do you often frequent or find the most useful? Where/How do you discover evocative terminology to use in your fics? I’ve just been using Apple’s thesaurus and OneLook Reverse Dictionary and Thesaurus interchangeably, though the latter is more associative than synonymous and I don’t mesh too well with it. I hit up the amply titled Thesaurus sometimes, but, funnily enough, it's not one... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Thesauruses kinda suck??
Onelook Thesaurus is also good, and you can sort words alphabetically. https://onelook.com/thesaurus/. Source: over 2 years ago
