Try this https://olioex.com/ And their app. Surplus items are listed on the app and anyone who wants can request them. The priority is food waste prevention, many users are struggling and use it to supplement, but you don't have to be. Why the concern about if someone "needs it"? Would you prefer to carry on throwing it away, and paying for commercial waste disposal? Source: over 1 year ago

Check out the olio app for free food items, to mix things up a bit as well. It's not something to rely on but if you're in London, you'll hopefully have a nearby volunteer picking food up regularly and distributing it via the app. Source: over 1 year ago

If you’re looking to list things for free I’ve had better luck with Olio (https://olioex.com). Maybe because it’s a smaller pool of people using it but I’ve found people either show as they say they will or communicate they won’t. Source: almost 2 years ago
Check out Orio App - https://olioex.com Here households co-ordinate collection of excess food from supermarkets, rebag and redistribute. You go onto the app, find a distributor near you (you can also become one), and message / select for the food you want. You then get a confirmation and you go and collect. Very polite and anonymous, usually bagged and labelled with your name ready for collection. Source: almost 2 years ago
Resources like doctorofcredit.com, edx.org, trashnothing.com, buynothing.com (app), olioex.com/ (app) have been so beneficial in so many ways - sometimes that means just being able to share it with someone who could be helped by knowing about it! Of course, all of the resources through my library - like Kanopy, Overdrive, Linkedin Learning, Hoopla, etc so great as well. Source: almost 2 years ago
