If you're using https://newsboat.org, you can add a filter (killfile) to remedy this:- Source: Hacker News / 8 months agoignore-article "*" "title =~ \"#shorts\"".
> Have you used any modern RSS reader recently like inoreader, they load the content of the page without visiting the publishing website. I'm happy with newsboat[1]; but I'm not surprised that people have integrated scraping into RSS readers. Fundamentally, that's not a problem with RSS, that's a war between scrapers and content providers. If the email newsletter model persists long enough, I'd expect that people... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
So, I installed a terminal RSS reader called Newsboat and added the feed to it. I have it always running in a terminal, and the scores refresh every minute. I can open the Cricinfo link in a browser by selecting a match and typing o. Source: over 1 year ago

Newsboat[1]. Having everything happen locally on my own machine is great - I never want to be in the position of losing Google Reader again. And the option to do non-interactive refresh makes is almost as nice for high volume feeds. --- 1. https://newsboat.org/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
Https://newsboat.org/ - is an RSS/Atom feed reader for the text console. It’s an actively maintained fork of Newsbeuter. Source: about 2 years ago
You could give https://newsboat.org a try, it's a fork of Newsbeuter. I shared my Newsbeuter setup a long time ago here (https://blog.notmyhostna.me/posts/using-newsbeuter-to-read-your-rss-feeds/) but have since moved on to https://miniflux.app and Reeder (iPad OS, iOS, Mac). They all support the Google Reader API so it makes using any client very easy. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
Why is like simplistic, why not newsboat? I bet you it's faster than any POS web app https://newsboat.org/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
I don't think we actually disagree: there's plenty of "real value" in RSS, real value that I extract both as a user (I use newsboat[1]) and a producer (I maintain an Atom feed for my blog). The problem isn't that RSS isn't good or useful, it's that it doesn't fit into the incentive structures that we've bought into. An Internet in which RSS thrives is not one in which John Q. Programmer makes 250k a... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Newsboat is a command line based RSS reader! I've never used it but I've heard good things about it! I've heard about it through Bryan Jenks so maybe check his videos and blog posts on it! Source: almost 3 years ago

It is composed of the relatively small number of the high profile developers that occasionally pop up on HN. Most are blogs I found of less known developers which I bumped into when searching other stuff or when casually browsing Github/Twitter/StackOverflow. I try to add new feeds wherever I find them. Would have shared RSS subscription list if was easily possible, however I use the newsboat [1] program and read... - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
Newsboat (https://newsboat.org/), a terminal news reader. It sounds techie, but it isn't. How do I know? I'm not techie and I use it every day :-). - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
I think you can set a macro in newsboat to an external command/script. Check out this wiki page. I don't know if it can be automated though. Source: almost 3 years ago

"Newsboat", a command line RSS reader, definitely has keyword searches and a ton of other functionality for complex filtering and grouping: https://newsboat.org/ I haven't found a good Android based RSS reader that does that, though I haven't really looked. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago

For Linux I only remember NewsBoat, which is command line program. Tons of amazing graphical counterparts exist for sure, but I can’t make specific recommendations, because I haven’t had experience with them nor do I remember the names. Source: almost 3 years ago
