Social recommendations and mentions

We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about Meshroom and what they use it for.
  • Where is Meshroom SFM source code?
I know there is this github repo Https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom. Source: about 2 years ago
  • I am new to photogrammetry and have a really stupid question I can't find an answer to on Google.
You can input your photos into Meshroom using a capable computer or Colab. Even if you're only interested in some of the depthmaps, you'll have to input a full set of images around the object. It will take 2-4 times longer than default but for your usecase you may want to change the 'Downscale' attribute to 1. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Who knows an app for that?
I know this is r/fossdroid, but I don't think there is any Foss Android application capable of that. However, meshroom came into my mind. It is free and open source with linux support. The downside of it is that you can't create the model right in your phone, but you first need to take many photos to then upload to your computer and process. Source: about 2 years ago
  • 3D modelling just by walking around the object
This has been used in Video games for the Better part of decade, already. And you can do this yourself without an iphone with lidar, by taking a lot of pictures of an object from various angles, and then use something like meshroom to make a detailed 3d model of it. Source: about 2 years ago
  • 3D modelling just by walking around the object
This is using the Iphones LIDAR, (basiacally laser depth sensor) to get accurate data, but it can be done also be done without it, just with a lot of pictures of all around the object, from various angles, and some software like meshroom. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Scanning my room
My workflow is to use my phone camera (better cameras will produce better results) in the manual controls mode although just locking the exposure and focus in auto should work decently and take a bunch of angles of whatever I'm scanning, then import it in Meshroom, free software for photoscanning. There are some tutorials on the github page and there are some on youtube also. Source: over 2 years ago
  • [Question] What's the best way to make a 3D model without 3D Scanner
Photogrammetry, as in multiple images from all sides of your object. Then combine and process to an actual object in MeshRoom: https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What can a 3d scanner can do at the moment? And how affordable is a functional 3d scanner?
Scanning is still expensive by hardware. Phone scanning is useless. Photogrammetry is cheap, but hit/miss and be very frustrating. Https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Looking for an app to do photogrammetry without Lidar
Never used it but yesterday a user pointed out Meshroom. Never tried it myself yet, but it seems like a decent solution - its free (https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom) and as long as you are fine changing your workflow a bit (uploading pictures to a pc which processes the models) you should be fine. • Android 3d scanning
Constring a good 3d model from picutes is super resource intensive. I would suggest just using your phone as a camera and then using Meshroom to generate your models. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Open-source photogrammetry workflow
Meshroom's git repo appears to be getting a few commits every week. https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Please refer to the document about Meshroom software.
Meshroom is open-source. Https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Scanning App - New Prusa user
GitHub - alicevision/meshroom: 3D Reconstruction Software is the one I've seen recommended the most. One such tutorial (reddit). Source: about 3 years ago
  • Spend the last 3 days recreating my room in VR pretty happy how it all turned out!
I really don't know, but you could maybe use meshroom https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom and do it like this. I had some good results with that, it's just slower. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Are there any good Python+QML docs/resources out there?
I can advise you to have a look at open source projects. By looking at the code you will learn really useful insights about software design. One project that uses QML/Ptyhon is https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom. Source: about 3 years ago
  • [P] Synthetic Data for CV with Python and Blender
Yep. Many of assets used in synthetic data are actually 3D scanned: https://sketchfab.com/store/3d-models?q=scan. You can download photogrammetry software for free and make them with your cellphone too: https://github.com/alicevision/meshroom. Source: about 3 years ago
