  My advice, look for some hobbies and group events, try to fine something a tad fun and test it out. If you don't like it, then try a diff one. Try to find some that involves exercise if you are not already doing that. I recently got involved with a horse rescue so I'm hefting hay, walking the horses around on area that is full of hills, etc. I like playing with the horses so I don't really think much about the...   I recommend working on a good personal project, keeping yourself busy (probably help out open source projects), dont get discouraged. And network the hell out.   I'm a boardgamer. There's a meetup every wednesday at 401 Games (yonge and charles). You have to sign up on meetup.com tho lol, by Friday, pick the games you are interested in playing, and then Sunday they choose if you made the cut. Source: 5 months ago

  Just wanted to second what others have said about online RPG'ing, you're not alone in that it can be hard to find a local group of gamers ... I know in my case ages ago when I was able to actually do tabletop games before the time constraints of parenthood :P that the website meetup.com helped us grab new players...   Manc is full of people in a similar position. As I'm sure others have said, Manchester has loads of active groups on meetup.com. You can also find lots of hobby events elsewhere, such as FB. There is stuff going on all the time, if only you know it's there. Make a start tonight, look for Roseby Social on meetup, they are at Shack in the Northern quarter this evening.   So I would suggest searching both meetup.com and facebook for your local board gaming and d&d groups. I would also check in with your local comic book and gaming shops and ask around for D&D groups, D&D Adventures League, and any board gaming/war gaming groups that go on.   At this age, most people are making friends at work. You meet people at work or through an organization. I would be open to joining a book club, or some type of hobby group (crocheting, hiking, or travel). Find people who have similar interests as you. There is a meetup.com for groups like that.
