  • Antidepressants '^'
Hi friend! I work at a walk-in medical clinic (not a family doctors office), and lots of the doctors can prescribe antidepressants with a slightly longer (30 minute) appointment. So what I would recommend you do is call around to walk-in clinics or go to medimap.ca where you can see wait times of walk-in clinics in your area and call walk-in clinics from there. • walk-in clinics
Medimaps is a great site to show nearby walk-in clinics and their wait times. I would still advise you to call the clinic before dropping in since some clinics may be at capacity for the day. Source: 10 months ago
  • Colics / Reflux? Need advice. No doctor available.
There's a website that can help you set up Tele health, and find local MDs or clinics that can help - medimap here. Source: 11 months ago
  • Where can I get tested for lime disease?
Go to your doctor or to a walk-in clinic https://medimap.ca/ and bring the tick with you. More information at https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/lyme-disease/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20374655. Source: 11 months ago
  • How do you get a family dr in BC?
In the meantime, check out other resources like Urgent Primary Care Centres, Medimap (they give wait times but not always accurate so I'd still call beforehand), travel clinics (they do regular immunizations too), sexual health clinics, screening clinics or virtual/telehealth like walkin.ca, maple etc. You can also call 811 to talk to an RN (24/7) or pharmacist (5PM to 9AM). • Pediatric Pulmonologist in Surrey?
Try taking your little one to a walk-in clinic if you don't have a family doctor. You can check on medimapmedimap to see where local clinics are and what the wait times are. You can also try calling 8-1-1 to talk to a nurse anytime, like 24/7, any day of the week. Source: 12 months ago

  • Pet owners, would you use this?
Great idea, there are a couple of helpful crowd sourced data apps something similar for healthcare, where the public can submit to add a clinic and there is information on whether or not a clinic is taking new patients ... Not sure if you have seen these? https://medimap.ca or https://www.iamsick.ca. Source: about 1 year ago
  • My family doctor isn’t helping (Canada)
I'm glad that taking a note and advocating for yourself is helping! It doesn't hurt to get another opinion and asking another doctor, I've used medimap.ca to find walk in clinics nearby , it shows you wait times and you can book your appointment on there too, I think it might help if you look for another doctor for a second opinion or if you end up having to go to another family doc, but hopefully you wont need... • I haven’t been to a walk-in clinic in years- questions
If you want to go the urgent care route, for the one in the WestShore on Goldstream, get there early (like 6 am for an 8 am open), and if it’s already past when they open, like today (it’s 3:30 right now) go to medimap.ca and see if they have space available because they sometimes open up a new intake of patients after they’ve dealt with the morning rush. • Canada’s health-care system ‘on the ropes,’ warns N.S. premier amid ER deaths
Hearing heartbreaking stories like this reveals the severity of Canada's healthcare system's crisis. It sucks that we can't really do much either, other than complain to the gov, post about it on reddit, idk, I feel like all we can do is help to reduce the burden on ER staff by visiting the ER only in true emergencies and looking for nearby clinics or virtual care options beforehand. I know there's a site for... Source: over 1 year ago

  • Canadas mental help
Not too sure about free access to mental health services, but as for walk in clinics/virtual care, try medimap.ca. I've used it to find walk in clinics available near me + their wait times, you can go on a waitlist so you don't have to wait in person. Don't think they're available in quebec but in ontario they're with a pretty good amount of clinics. I know there's a website that offers cheaper mental health... Source: over 1 year ago
