  What are you using for GUI with Linux? Given these are complaints you have, I’m guessing you aren’t using a userfriendly / more integrated distro. Ubuntu is totally GNU and has proprietary code, but it is pretty userfriendly. Anyway, in general: If you like Mac, use Gnome. That is the default in Ubuntu. If you like Windows, use KDE.
