  Ultimately the problem is with the official apps of cloud storage providers. Apple is forcing them to use File Provider APIs but that doesn't apply to 3rd party apps.   Your best bet is to use an alternative client, like https://maestral.app/ if on a mac or rclone if on a windows machine.
