  • Text Fringing? looks bad on the new Samsung OLED G9...
Download Mactype. If you download the beta version (warning: it will trip windows defender) you can use one of the QD-OLED profiles, if you download the last stable version (has an installer and will not trip Windows defneder), use a grayscale rendered font like this one. It doesn't work on chromium browsers though so you're gonna have to use Firefox if you want it to be on your browser. Source: 11 months ago
  • [HUB] One YEAR Using The Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED - My Thoughts
Already supported in WPF and DirectWrite. AFAIK DirectWrite by default only uses y-axis at large font sizes. I think MacType enables it system-wide. Source: about 1 year ago
  • [Oled_Gaming] Bessere Textwiedergabe für OLED-Displays (ClearType loswerden)
Step 2: Install it from the MacType homepage, it is an open-source project so it seems safe to me. I recommend installing it in "Load with MacTray" -> "Standalone Mode". Source: about 1 year ago
  • Recently got Windows 11, is there a way to fix this? The squished font looks terrible.
You could try this : Https://github.com/snowie2000/mactype. Source: over 1 year ago
  • AW3423DW
I also use Mactype enabled as well with UnadvisedApollo's ini, and followed his steps for Mactype. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Irregular font Windows 11, 27' 1440p
ClearType alone isn't enough for me, that's why I install MacType (with LCD profile, Service Mode, ClearType still on, and using an old 1080p tv/monitor) and the font rendering is beautiful here with W11. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Is it possible to make fonts thicker on linux?
In windows, there is a program that can be used to modify the look of text completely. Is there a similar program on linux with a similar functionality. Basically, I'd like the font to be a little smoother and blurrier (like in the old KDE4). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Windows vs Linux(Ubuntu) GUI
Are you referring to text rendering? Windows uses a different text rendering scheme than Linux/MacOS. You can get the same text rendering on Windows via the MacType project. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • AW3423DW (and other OLED) text rendering is bad. Are there subpixel rendering fixes? Will microsoft step in?
Using the app mactype which has some advanced features to work around different subpixel layouts. Even mactype is a nightmare for novice users, as figuring out a correct and working config is not simple. Do I need to configure any windows settings differently if using mactype? Should cleartype be off? Are the manual tuning options native to windows in effect while mactype is live? Source: about 2 years ago
  • Better Text Rendering for OLED displays (Getting rid of ClearType)
Step 1: Install it from the MacType homepage, it is an open-source project so it seems safe to me. I recommend installing it in "Load with MacTray" -> "Standalone Mode". Source: about 2 years ago
  • Some things I love and hate about Windows 11 after coming from MacOS
Check out either Font Rendering extension, or systemwide MacType renderer. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Can we agree that the text shadows look absolutely ridiculous on the desktop, especially when we use a light wallpaper?
If you want there's a much better 3rd party font rendering tool which will fix that for you for the time being - https://github.com/snowie2000/mactype. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Has Windows 11 improved its font rendering?
For years, Windows users could only rely on something like MacType to improve font rendering on Windows. I really do hope this is changed in Windows 11. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • New flyout designs in Windows 11.
Well some legacy components were changed to being XAML based, but I dont think anything big was changed in the way of font rendering. By the way, if you're interested that, check out MacType. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Text looks very pixelated?
GitHub - snowie2000/mactype: Better font rendering for Windows. Try this. I like the Chico Thorn presets, and I use with service mode. Source: about 3 years ago
