  • Which replacement battery brands are reliable?
I always bought my batteries from OWC, good experiences. https://eshop.macsales.com. Source: 11 months ago
  • Fixing my 2015 MacBook Pro?
Check out OWC for really good SSD replacements. They have a guide that will show you which drive to get for your model. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Scratch Live keeps Pausing
OWC has SSD's & RAM for Macs you can search your specific model. Source: about 1 year ago
  • I have a 2012 iMac, needs a new HD and is not supported by Apple anymore. Anything worthwhile I could do with it?
OWC offers kits and instructions for either installing a new SSD or replacing the internal HD with an SSD. Also, if you’ve got a 27” iMac, you can upgrade the memory to 32 GB. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Intel MacBook Pro’s - are they still worth it?
Depends on what your use is going to be. Apple refurbished has all different configurations of 2019 16" MBP you can get AppleCare+. You can find good deals on swappa, just don't hesitate another site is MacSales Going M1 refurbished is fine too. 8GB is fine for the majority of the people using them. There are developers still using the 13" MBA from 2017. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Not sure if this is the place to post my problem. Please redirect me if so.
As an interim measure I believe you can set how much RAM premiere can use so you can lower that. Will hurt performance but should at least run. In the long term, assuming it’s a 27” model, I would suggest getting yourself more RAM; at least get up to 64GB. It’s a very easy procedure. MacSales has guides on how and the exact RAM tested to work in your system. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Will this iMac update & run smooth in 2023 ?!
I think an iMac of that vintage should be running a 2.5" SATA drive. You can get a Crucial MX500 1TB drive for around $70 USD. You might also want to check out https://eshop.macsales.com since they also sell a lot of the special tools you need to open up the iMac. Speaking from personal experience, it isn't easy, but if you have a couple of hours, a clean workspace with good lighting and a lot of patience, you can... Source: over 1 year ago
  • This is my iMac since 2017. It is now considerably slow. Is it worth maxing out my RAM or do I just get a new iMac?
Looks like it's compatible with the latest macOS, so that's a positive. Do you like the physical characteristics? Seems to be in good condition otherwise? If so, price out a RAM upgrade and disk swap to SSD at https://eshop.macsales.com - Looks like $300-400 would do both, compared to thousands for a new one. It's never going to be as fast as an equivalent M-series, but it will surely be faster than it is now. Source: over 1 year ago
  • [HELP] Need a SSD for my old iMac
OWC's site is very helpful figuring out what you need and having detailed videos for you to follow: https://eshop.macsales.com. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Mac Book 512 GB or 1 TB
Eshop.macsales.com or backmarket.com or directly from Apple at apple.com/shop/refurbished. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Enclosure
Which Air do you have specifically? The A1466 can refer to the MacBook Air 13-inch, Early 2010 / Mid 2011, 13-inch, 2012 / 2014 / 2015 / 2017. Some will have different form factors than others (I know my 2010 and 2012 use different connectors). Once you have that locked in, OWC (https://eshop.macsales.com) will have an enclosure that will give you a USB 3.0 interface. Source: over 1 year ago
  • MacBook pro late 2015 won't boot after erase disk and reinstall.
OWC = other world computer. It's an aftermarket manufacturing company that makes mac stuff. https://eshop.macsales.com. Source: over 1 year ago
  • anyone know how to fix this?
Well, I don’t remember if that model has internet recovery mode but it might. Try holding down command-r while booting. If it comes up, load the disk utility (look in the menu bar) and check the file system and try to repair it - this has a low chance of success but it’s the best chance you have. If it does say the drive can’t be repaired then go to https://eshop.macsales.com/ and look up your options for... Source: almost 2 years ago
  • speeding up a macbook air
Things to look for - Activity Monitor will tell you if RAM is being overloaded, and if so you might be able to upgrade RAM which I believe is a plug-in in that model. You could also swap in an SSD for the rotating drive in it now. A good source for either of those is https://eshop.macsales.com/. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Absolutely unacceptable - Newegg shipped me drives like this
I'd also recommend Other World Computing; in the 20 years I've been dealing with them, I've only had a single problem directly (bad RAM stick) and they overnighted me a replacement before I had even packaged up the bad one. And when they sell Apple overstock or etc., you can be sure it's actually Apple brand and not a knockoff. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Looking for compatible peripherals
Go to https://eshop.macsales.com/ and enter your Mac model. You will get a list of compatible items. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Working with Adobe effects on Mac
You can share that information here, but it might be better to get on the phone with OWC and ask them the same question. They will ask you to provide the information that you found from the Mac. Then they can advise you on any products which could help. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Morning, bleep bloops. How's everyone powering their setups? I'm running out of sockets and don't like using all of spaces on the power extension. Are deicated power supplies for Pedals only?
They've sold some pretty good USB3 data cables, too, though I eventually had to go to OWC to get a 20 or 40Gb/s cable longer than a couple feet; which is probably one of the best specced USB3 data-and-power cables on the market right now. Source: over 2 years ago
  • SSD Upgrade for Mac Air! Whats the difference b/w these 2?
My personal experience with these is that they kept causing the computer to kernel panic and crash upon waking from sleep. I tried to cheap out and go this route and it didn’t work for me. Try ones from https://eshop.macsales.com/ as they perform better. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Is there a used/refurbished iMac/MacBook store in/near Bellingham, or will I have to drive to Seattle? Thanks!
Not local, but Other World Computing https://eshop.macsales.com. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Where to get CPU upgrade for Quicksilver in Europe?(only thing I have seen on ebay was overpriced dual 800 module from US, with taxes and shipping easily reaching 150€) At least single 867 as I have single 800.
It's also worth checking what the shipping price is supposed to consist of: Is the shipment tracked or untracked? Does it contain shipping insurance or not? Does the seller handle the importing fees on your behalf so the price you pay contains everything and you don't need to do anything more, or will you have to pay the customs fees upon delivery again? What's the packaging like? How large is the item, and how... Source: over 2 years ago
