I chose LineageOS as the ROM since that seems pretty widely supported as far as android devices go (plus it provides some security updates for devices that are no longer maintained by the manufacturer). This is a very legitimate concern. Personally, I use LineageOS for that, as I wipe my phones usually as soon as it comes out. But if you're not a fan of tinkering in the slightliest, then I do understand if you want to at least preserve official updates. Source: 11 months ago
