  • US names Venezuelan doctor as notorious ransomware maker
That reminds me of Conrad Barski (MD and also author of a great programming book), and there's Kon Kolivas, anaesthetist and kernel hacker... There are probably others I can't remember now. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Help? Is this a good place to get help with lisp projects?
I liked Land of Lisp for early learning. He sticks in the base language and builds most stuff from scratch (e.g. Using the built in features). It is also targeted at people learning to program with little to no background. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Ask HN: What is a good resource to learn Lisp in 2022?
Land of Lisp [0] is a book where you learn Common Lisp through coding up games. I picked it up and it was very good read. I had to abandon it less than halfway because of other responsibilities that I have. I very much plan to go back it. This book is very good, and I recommend it. SICP is always a classic and worth going through in any stage of your life. There are also suggestions in Common Lisp website for... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Looking for advice
First off get this fun book (land of lisp) to get over your fear of computers and programming. You should also read/listen to the litany against fear by Frank Herbert, the author of Dune. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Studying the Martian language on Mars
No, because Lisp is a language given to humans by aliens. Thought it was a running joke in Lisp community with [The Land of Lisp](http://landoflisp.com/) and all. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Common Lisp
Casting SPELs in LISP is neat. If you like it, Barski wrote an entire book on Common Lisp: Land of Lisp. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Emacs to neovim (or vice versa, or both) stories
That too faded though. I was too comfortable with my tmux pane on a remote Linux box. Just too damn convenient, and it felt (feels?) like home. Recently though, I decided to take a crack at learning Common Lisp. This book has been really fun: http://landoflisp.com/. At first, I tried developing for it in vim using slimv and vlime. Both work OK, but there were some rough edges. I felt the need for the real thing,... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Which Lisp should I learn? (This question probably gets asked every week here)
PCL is free in the internet. You can buy the paper copy also. I also enjoyed reading Land of Lisp, it's incredibly fun and touches almost all the aspects of the language. Source: over 2 years ago
  • I made a High Quality copy of Periodic Table of the Loop Macro
Yesterday I sat down and started copying the best quality version of the PTLM that I could find using inkscape. There were only this, this and this online, and the official PDF version of the LAND OF LISP also has a blurry (non-vector) PTLM. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Cl-bodge: a cross-platform Common Lisp game and application framework
On a somewhat related aside, the book Land of Lisp [1] is an interesting introduction to both Common Lisp and game programming. If anyone, like me, was interested in learning Common Lisp through a casual and fun mode, I highly recommend the book. [1] http://landoflisp.com/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
  • Redcarpet is written with sugar, spice and everything nice (most startuppy readme ever)
    * - http://landoflisp.com, the site hurts to look at, but the book is nowhere near as painful. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • The Lisperati1000 Is a Cyberdeck Terminal Dedicated to Lisp Programming
    > not sure why this one in particular made it to the frontpage Because of HNs connection to Lisp via Paul Graham, but also because Cyberdeck's creator Conrad Barski is a bit of a legend in Lisp circles, having authored Land of Lisp http://landoflisp.com/ Of Land of Lisp (aka LOL), PG said, "Turns out the border between genius and insanity is a pretty cheery place". So now you see why HN holds the Cyberdeck... - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
