  • Spent the last few days putting together a prototype in Unity for a 3D platformer using entirely free low-poly assets from various sources. How can I improve my main menu?
Most of the assets came from Kenney, but there are way too many combined sources to list them all here. If you want to know where anything came from, feel free to ask. Source: 11 months ago
  • Who wants to help me build my game
Not quite an answer to the question, but there's a bunch of free asset libraries out there! Assets ยท Kenney. Source: 11 months ago
  • i need assets, cant pay for them and don't know how to make my own
Look for CC0 assets, they're free to use without attribution in your projects. Kenney and Quaternius are two sources that I use frequently. And relax with the attacks. Source: 12 months ago
  • I just want to make a 2D filled in circle.
Kenney is the absolute king of free-to-use art, and you can just drop any of his assets into your project to avoid opening Ms Paint/Gimp/Photoshop/whatever. Source: almost 1 year ago
  • I am in despair about making games.
Go to kenney.nl and pick a free asset pack. Whichever one appeals to you in the moment - don't overthink it. Just download it and unzip it. Build something weird with it. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Can you make a video game entirely out of ai chat bots?*
For art, I don't feel qualified to tell you a lot of stuff. There are sites with really cool free content, for instance kenney: Https://kenney.nl/assets Just take stuff like that, cut it out in paint or gimp and put it in your game. Maybe try adding some details or ddrawing over them. Source: about 1 year ago
  • hello
My guess is that you might be a beginner to various topics here: Game Development, Computer Programming, the Godot engine, and Video Game art (I'm guessing specifically pixel art too). It might be easier for you to use pre-made assets for the time being, rather than spending time on learning how to make assets yourself. Check out Kenny's asset website and the Open Game Art website for a selection of free / open... Source: over 1 year ago
  • How to best create a housing simulation?
Hey, I don't want to discourage you, but that sounds like a lot to take on, especially since it seems like you don't have a lot of experience yet from your posting history. From my experience, unless there is external pressure to proudce anything (like a gamejam or assignment), people rarely finish their first projects, unless they keep them about the size of pong or similar. A few ideas: If you just want to make... Source: over 1 year ago

  • I SUCK AT ART.
Other comments already explained how your can be a programmer without knowing how to do art so I will just drop two things 1. https://kenney.nl/assets 2. Tweening (I use DOTween) is like a cheat and used well adds so much more life into your project than it should have the right to. Source: over 1 year ago

  • New to Godot and loving the animation player/tree while working on adding my first boss battle
Really happy that I decided to learn Godot, it makes a lot of things really easy that I found tedious in Gamemaker. Shout out to Kenney for supplying easy to use assets and Firebelly for the great Udemy course to get me started in Godot. Having a lot of fun learning this powerful engine! Source: over 2 years ago

  • Advice for inexperienced game devs
Of course if you just want to focus on the programming/game design elements there's nothing wrong with using free CC0 asset packs. Kenney, Itch, and Open Game art are good places to find free asset packs. Good luck! Source: almost 3 years ago
