Kanboard is a strong choice for those looking for a simple, customizable project management tool that embraces the Kanban method. Its open-source nature and focus on privacy and control make it a good fit for users who prefer self-hosted solutions. However, it might not be ideal for large teams or enterprises with complex project management needs, as it lacks some of the advanced features offered by other tools.

I think a container of Kanboard https://kanboard.org/ and an MCP integration would achieve something similar - mostly cause when I think of project management tools that is the only one that actually feels insanely snappy, compared to the slowness of Jira, OpenProject and tbh Trello is also slower. Would actually be cool to have more local tools like that, that something like Claude Code can integrate with. Find a... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

Some years ago, I used Kanboard (it written in php): https://kanboard.org/ . It was ugly but useful (and easy to install because I remember that it didn't need any data base). - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
How does it compare to the existing open-source boards, such as: https://wekan.github.io/ https://taiga.io/ https://kanboard.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
This reminds me of Kanboard in how focused and simple it is: https://kanboard.org That's a really good thing, you don't always need heavyweight solutions with bunches of features that love to eat a lot of RAM (and CPU), sometimes a simpler option is fully sufficient. Especially because this one doesn't try to tackle complex problems like auth, if it's for personal use, you can just put basicauth (over TLS), mTLS,... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I've been using the likes of PrimeVue (https://primevue.org/), PrimeReact (https://primereact.org/) and PrimeNG (https://primeng.org/) because they attempt to give you a library of components that work well out of the box and have a similar API across multiple technologies: Vue, React and Angular, respectively. I feel like at some point I'll probably make a project with just jQuery and possibly jQuery UI for the... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

Pomatez or any Pomodoro timer for tricking yourself into doing work, my brain needs that sometimes: https://zidoro.github.io/pomatez/ Kanboard for a blazing fast Kanban board (easy to self host, uses little in the way of resources): https://kanboard.org/ Alternatively, for more serious project management there's also OpenProject (also includes time tracking and reports): https://www.openproject.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
For someone that's not a web developer, I found Kanboard to be the easiest to set up, and it has all the basic features you'd expect. It's a traditional PHP app where you copy the files to your web server and set a few configuration options and you're good. If you want to use it locally, you download it, run php -S localhost:8080, and start using it. https://kanboard.org/ Note: The project is in maintenance mode,... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
I kicked off 2024 with an attempt to get more organized and continue my quest to rely less on big tech. To start things off, Iโm trying out an open-source taskboard called Kanboard. Itโs like Trello but without all the integrations or surprises. Iโve been using it for personal tasks and side projects. I like these boards for dumping out the things I want to do and then visually sorting them into their status and... - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago

For the Kanban experience, I was using Kanboard. It is perfect for Project management and it allows for relations between the cards as well. It is also solid in terms of stability. It is also very lightweight and can easily run on Raspberry Pi. The only downside is that the UI feels a little outdated and it is not Mobile friendly. Source: about 3 years ago

Deck is very minimal and not really suited for anything beyond simple, personal stuff, in my opinion. As far as self-hosted, my favorite is still Kanboard, which has a lot of plugins and themes to choose from. Leantime is good too and a bit different. I also like Vikunja and Wekan. I will set us up with project management & software. I'm thinking JIRA + Confluence since they both have a free tier for teams with less than 10 users. If we run into any limitations, I can set us up with self-hosted software like Kanboard and Dokuwiki. Source: over 3 years ago
