I'm working https://journalisticapp.com and it works really well as PWA with Nuxt, REST, and Django. Source: over 1 year ago
Could you add my Micro Journaling PWA please 🙏🏽 Https://journalisticapp.com. Source: over 1 year ago
Thanks for reporting this, I'll take a look at it. Can you double check if you installed the correct URL? https://journalisticapp.com is only the home page, so you need to open the app at https://pwa.journalisticapp.com and install that one. If you did, then it is another problem. Source: over 1 year ago
I just finished upgrading https://journalisticapp.com from v2 to v3. If you wonder what it takes, take a look at this tweet:. Source: over 1 year ago
I had trouble finding this out while working on two side project, both PWAs, Journalistic and RepoTracker. - Source: dev.to / about 2 years ago
Let’s say you come up with a great concept for an app or service, e.g. In my case, a minimalistic micro journaling app. You naturally want it to be available to as many users as possible, no matter where they live and which device(s) they choose to have on their desk, wrist, and/or in their pocket. - Source: dev.to / about 2 years ago
I'll start. My project (Journalistic) is stuck on Nuxt 2 + Vite. I'm blocked from upgrading to Bridge bc nuxt/auth-next does not work with Bridge + Vite. There are also some issues with vue-chart-3 and Composition API. Upgrading to Nuxt 3 directly will only be possible once nuxt/auth and nuxt/pwa are available for v3. Source: over 2 years ago
My PWA (Journalistic) had zero organic web traffic in the beginning and generated more than 10k installs organically from the PlayStore. And even now, with more love from Google, the PlayStore still generates more than 90% of the downloads for the app despite having a relatively low install count for a journaling app (it shows 10k, you can check it out here). Yes! There are still some obstacles, but I can ship software way faster when building with web technologies. Journalistic would definitely not be available in the PlayStore if it wasn't for TWAs. Source: over 2 years ago
Couldn't agree more! I think what holds a lot of devs back are some limitations in UX. Also, users are not yet used to installing web apps aka. PWAs from the web. For instance, in the case of Journalistic, > 95% of users come via the PlayStore. Source: over 2 years ago
You can find more info about the app here and complete documentation here. Source: over 2 years ago
As we’ve seen, it is not possible to fulfill all four requirements we set simultaneously, so we have to prioritize and balance the cost versus benefit of each of the privacy strategies and accommodate for their incompatibilities. This is also where we’ll leave the realm of objectivity and enter the world of the opinionated design principles and ideologies behind Journalistic specifically (see About page). - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
I'm currently working on Journalistic (https://journalisticapp.com), a dedicated micro journaling app, and would love to get some insights into how people approach micro journaling to improve it. Let's connect! Source: over 2 years ago
What's missing for a seamless experience is a Manifest API to dynamically change the manifest values at runtime. Here are two scenarios that compromise a native-like experience for my PWA/TWA (https://journalisticapp.com):. Source: over 2 years ago
I dropped Bridge into my pet project (Journalistic – Micro Journaling PWA) and started migrating, testing, discording, opening issues and PRs, thinking that by the year's end it'd be running at least on Bridge, if not even v3. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
Nuxt in is an excellent choice! I would recommend splitting the landing page from the app and putting it on a subdomain, e.g. app.something.com. Optimizing for app and SEO at the same time doesn't go very well. Also, splitting at a later stage is painful, I went through that with https://journalisticapp.com. Source: almost 3 years ago
I would say with respect to Android you can build a PWA that is almost indistinguishable from a native app via Trusted Web Apps. I'm building this one here right now: journalisticapp.com, and most users installing it from the PlayStore are not aware that it is not a native app. Source: almost 3 years ago
Thx ShortFuse! What I need is basically an auto-growing textarea that always keeps the cursor in the viewport when the textarea is focused. I've been researching this a lot but couldn't find a solution that works. There is always weird behavior when the height of the textarea is larger than window height. When you're typing the scroll jumps in order to keep the current input visible, but only on space and not... Source: over 3 years ago
I’ve been working on a micro journaling app (PWA) over the last year, thinking that with a little notching users would just get used to installing apps directly from their browser, but errrrr…. - Source: dev.to / over 3 years ago
