I'm not sure if you can get them here, but for hair, a lot of people in Denmark ride with airbag helmets. It's basically a thing you put on your neck that will go off if it detects a crash. https://hovding.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
Haven't biked for a couple years now, and I haven't tried this out yet, but this was making waves last time I was helmet shopping: https://hovding.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
I’ve never used one but this is an automatic deploying airbag for your head: https://hovding.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
I’ve been using a Hövding for the past few years. Had a particular nasty crash on it a couple years ago and was really impressed by the neck and head protection it provided. I wouldn’t recommend it for mountain biking but it’s great for commuting and urban bicycling. Source: about 1 year ago
Yeah, my first thought was "there's this: https://hovding.com/ ". Source: about 1 year ago
While I appreciate it would break your budget, have you considered an airbag-type helmet? E.g. https://hovding.com/ Worth a try if all else fails. Source: about 1 year ago
Now to be honest, if all helmets didn't suck...... If the helmets that didn't suck were better about not messing up my hair, I might go for it. Surely there must be some technological advance in this field that resolves my issues? There is Hövding; this is an almost-perfect form of bicycle head-protection as far as I'm concerned. It solves some of my biggest peeves with helmets (albeit trivial). Source: about 1 year ago
It still exist, and reportedly works pretty well: https://hovding.com/. Its just not available in the US. Possibly due to regulatory hurdles, or the difficulties of shipping something that basically explodes. Source: about 1 year ago
I wear a Hövding for commuting. I was involved in a significant crash a few years ago where the Hövding deployed appropriately and I would say the head and neck protection is superior to most conventional bicycle helmets. Source: about 1 year ago
The only thing I know is hovding and they are pricey. Source: about 1 year ago
If your goal is to minimize risk of head injury I’d go with a MIPS-verified helmet or a Hövding. Source: about 1 year ago
Maybe they had on one of those new age airbag helmets. Source: about 1 year ago
No. People don’t watch out for bikes. They sure as shit don’t watch out for turn signals on bikes. Also: https://hovding.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
It is a problem for a lot of riders, for both bicycles and motorcycles. A lot of studies have shown that people don't want to ride a bike to work because it makes them sweat. Ebikes solve this, but the helmet hair problem still remains. That said, a solution to this problem already exists: https://hovding.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
If you want to go for the Scandinavian style and have a helmet without wearing one, I can recommend a Hövding: Https://hovding.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
The Hovding airbag helmet protects 8 times better than a conventional bicycle helmet. Source: over 1 year ago
If you really hate helmets, you could use one of these instead: https://hovding.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Have you looked at the Hovding airbag hemet? It's European, it's basically an airbag that loosely goes around your neck instead of being worn on your head, and it replaces a traditional helmet. Source: over 1 year ago
You could also suggest an airbag. While not nearly as protective, it’s better than nothing. https://hovding.com. Source: over 1 year ago
Get him a Hövding. If he’s a gearhead he’ll love it because it’s high tech. I’d also recommend getting replacement insurance if he’s an aggressive rider because it’s probably going to deploy at some point. Source: over 1 year ago
Where I live people who want a helmet but not something on their head use an inflatable that triggers on falling. I presume they can be used when scooters. A scarf style thing is hopefully not as gross to share as a helmet. https://hovding.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
