  • THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO WRITING TOP-QUALITY ARTICLES
Before publishing your article, make sure to edit and proofread it. Check for spelling and grammar errors, and make sure your content flows well and makes sense. Tools like Grammarly or Hemingway Editor and quillbot can help you polish your writing. - Source: Reddit / 3 days ago
  • Do you guys use Grammarly or any other editing program to edit your fics?
These are my sins too, so I'll recommend hemingway app and wordcounter — they're both free to use in the browser which is handy, although I went ahead and bought hemingway because I like to be able to work offline. You can even scale up the keyword density specs in wordcounter to catch overused phrases. - Source: Reddit / 9 days ago
  • Every day /r/all is filled with anti-American hate posts, and divisive politics that encourage Americans and Europeans to tear themselves apart. Getting pretty sick of it.
On that note, I can highly recommend the Hemingway Editor. Which is a great tool for seeing just how pretentious your writing may be. - Source: Reddit / 9 days ago
  • [2558] Port Umbra — YA Fantasy (Short Story)
Page 3 and 4: OK. These are more expository pages and paragraphs. And on first read, they were a bit hard to understand and felt a bit info dumpy. That may just be b/c my brain is getting hotfried by your somewhat more advanced prose. If you go to hemingwayapp.com and copy paste your chapter, you have a grade 6 readability. This is fine, but for works that pertain to stuff like fiction and fantasy, I usually... - Source: Reddit / 9 days ago
  • Unmissed LinkedIn Guide (Now with AI)
It will chew on it, and come out with a few paragraphs. These are good as is, but I recommend doing a little tinkering first. Copy the output text over to the Hemmingway Editor. It will point out some issues to tackle. This is also a good place to look over things and pull out any sentences you don't like or aren't true (ChatGPC often.... er... Elaborates on things...). If you got any weird sentences, feel free to... - Source: Reddit / 12 days ago
  • What are some of your favorite words, or words you use way too damn much?
I like Hemingway app because you can use it in-browser and it highlights various common issues for clear writing. - Source: Reddit / 22 days ago
  • The rework of my book so far, as usual be brutally honest
As a rule of thumb, I like to run my writing through the Hemingway Editor. It's by no means perfect and just following its suggestions won't mean that your writing has been polished (at all!), but I think it highlights clarity issues that we as writers don't always see right off the bat. We know what we're trying to say, so reading our words doesn't necessarily show us the clunky bits that would make others stumble. - Source: Reddit / 24 days ago
  • How do I say this nicely...?
In a time when free tools like Grammarly and Hemingwayapp.com are free to use for the basics, you're not giving a great first impression... - Source: Reddit / 24 days ago
  • Advice for a colleague who writes poorly
If you are cool with software, the hemingway editor will eliminate that. It won't help you write a cohesive narrative, though. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
  • Advice on Editing/Pre-Submission?
You could always run your work through Hemingway. It does wonders for your writing's legibility. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
  • Started editing my book.
If so, then writing a first chapter and then going back and editing is a great way to do that! And in that case, one thing I would recommend is to pull up Grammarly ( www.grammarly.com ) or the Hemingway app ( https://hemingwayapp.com/ ) and start copying and pasting your sentences in. These apps aren't going to catch everything, but especially if you're wanting to learn how to write English better, they'll give... - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
  • "She Appeared" - First try making a Visual Novel on Ren'Py, this is a demo of mine (full VN isn't finished yet). Eager to hear your thoughts and opinions!
I'd suggest passing all your text through something like https://hemingwayapp.com/, this tool will point out readability issues with it. Things like run-on sentences, too many adverbs, sentences that are too complex, etc... After doing that, I'd suggest doing some more proofreading, there were many spelling mistakes in the text. Spelling is important because if the reader has to stop and re-read a misspelt word,... - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
  • Got this comment literally seconds ago, and I feel so crushed :( but it's my first hate comment so celebration, I guess.
For anyone who's concerned about repetition in their writing, here are some helpful tools: I use a combination of hemingwayapp.com and wordcounter.net to track keyword density. This helps me identify which words or phrases I might want to revisit or remove, if any. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
  • George Orwell's 6 rules for writing
There are OSS linux cli tools and npm packages that do the same thing but I find myself using this web app often. It has a pleasant interface and making all the errors go away usually results in clear writing. https://hemingwayapp.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
