  Found an even better way though. Check out Google Arts and Culture, they have a really nice selection of high res artwork.   As for page weathering, search some library site (artsandculture.google.com is a good starting point) for ancient books. You should be able to find some physical tome from a thousand years ago that has public-domain photos of it. Find a high resolution one, find a part of a page that's well-weathered, and use that as a page background, possibly with modification. My stuff with a page background is using a blank... You can't download them directly, but if you paste the link into Dezoomify it will convert it into a downloadable image for you. There's also a Dezoomify browser extension which makes it easier.
