The game engine you waited for... Godot provides a huge set of common tools, so you can just focus on making your game without reinventing the wheel.
Godot is completely free and open-source under the very permissive MIT license. No strings attached, no royalties, nothing. Your game is yours, down to the last line of engine code.
Instead, I was recommended Godot by a fellow developer. It is an easy-to-pickup and beginner-friendly open-source engine, which I will use to develop the Tetris game. - Source: dev.to / 3 days ago

Godot [1] is a very nice game engine. There's a game on Itch.io that teaches the scripting language it uses [2], and a ton of great tutorials on YouTube for beginners and experts alike. [1]: https://godotengine.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
Godot Engine is a free and open-source game engine. The story started as an in-house engine of an Argentinian studio in 2007, and since 2014, it's been a community-driven project with a lot of contributors. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
Fair enough! I’d personally recommend Godot, because it’s FOSS, has a really nice way of doing things (in my opinion), and a language that’s similar enough to Go that when I was first learning Go I’d frequently use terms from GDScript! It’s the kind of think you can learn in a few hours. Give it a shot if you’re just getting into dev! Source: 5 months ago
I believe most game developers would rather focus on making the game though, instead of figuring out how to make things work in React Native. In those cases, the best option is to just stick with game engines like Godot. Source: 5 months ago

4.1 is newer than the version in the tutorial. They are using 3.x. Many things changed, but you COULD be fine following the tutorial and googling. If you don't want to invest into googling changes, you can download the LTS Version 3.5.3 on godotengine.org to follow the tutorial. Source: 5 months ago
If there's is one thing that I took to heart from pirates video, it is to just start NOW, LIKE NOW. If you want to create videogames then do it, nothing is stopping you. And hes right, there are tools out there that are free, for example Godot, that you can start creating your game right now. Want a photoshop alternative that's free use Gimp. Want a 3D modeling software for free? Use Blender. Want to create music... Source: 5 months ago

Slightly off topic, but for those unhappy with Unity, I highly recommend Godot: https://godotengine.org/ It's open source and constantly improving. It's missing some features from Unity, but it's still highly capable. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

Unity, the platform that powered our game, recently implemented policy changes and they seem to have an ethical stance that doesn't sit well with us. We will not use Unity in the future unless we need to update the most recent version, which, mostly is untested. As of now. We're uncertain about whether we'll explore alternative engines such as Godot or Unreal. The absence of recent development activities coupled... Source: 7 months ago

If you as a gamer or developer are unhappy with this outcome or are unhappy that this happened at all.
