I didn't get a CSV upload prompt when I answered the question "yes" - if you don't have too many you can enter them manually. If you have more, you might have to use OLT.com ($9.95) or freetaxusa.com ($15) or another online option, but those are the two cheapest I know about. Source: about 2 years ago
So I am doing my taxes on freetaxusa.com and it said " Many people saw their 2021 income decline due to COVID-19. In response, Congress passed legislation allowing you to use your 2019 income instead of your 2021 income to calculate the Earned Income Credit if your 2021 income was less than your 2019 income. ". Moved in September '21 and job ended in December '21. Employer wasn't notified of new address unfortunately so my W4 was still reporting me as a KY employee and paying KY taxes. I've received about 6 paychecks during that time frame since the move and factored that in for IL's tax share but my W2's only state income in KY. I believe KY and IL has tax reciprocal agreements but I'm not sure how to cleanly put this... Source: about 2 years ago

I had inadvertently made an individual HSA contribution that was in excess of the contribution limit by $1700 (after taking into account employer contributions) in 2021. In the same year, I had the HSA provider pull out the excess contribution plus the earnings on it ($1708). I received a 1099-SA form and put that into my tax software (I'm using freetaxusa.com) and selected that it was due to an over contribution. Source: about 2 years ago

This would be self employment income, part of your tax return filing, schedule c. The program will walk you through it. TT overcharges though, freetaxusa.com is less expensive. Source: about 2 years ago
I used freetaxusa.com this year to file and it made it extremely easy to itemize. In same cases, if you didn't want to do the math, it would calculate your deduction for you based just on the info you provided (like your medical expenses being 6-ish percent more than your gross income in order to qualify). You are self employed, with a business, in addition to your w2 now. I'd file using freetaxusa.com, since they don't upcharge for the self employment tax forms. Source: about 2 years ago
Save yourself $100 and use freetaxusa.com. That's just for the regular turbo tax. If you're paying them extra you'd probably save $200 doing them yourself. Source: about 2 years ago
So what forms and procedures should I prepare to do? I'm assuming I file taxes normally federally and for PA. Perhaps I also file a VA state tax form as well? I generally use freetaxusa.com for filing. Source: about 2 years ago
Check out freetaxusa.com . They only charge for the state return. Even then, you can efile the federal return, then hand file the state return since it just takes a few lines from the federal (some states don't allow mailed in returns though). There is great value added by using a tax program, over trying to paper file the forms. Are you filing their personal taxes? Or just preparing the schedule C for them, and... If I enter these details into freetaxusa.com - it determines that I have to pay taxes on the conversion. I think this is a mistake. I called Vanguard regarding line 7 being "2 - Early distribution, exception applies". They told me this is correct and that I have to file form 8606. However I am not sure how to do that.
