  I wouldn't recommend Discord as it's mostly unencrypted and not self-hostable, but I really the the features and design of Discord. As an alternative (but sadly not yet releases) I would recommend Fosscord. It's mostly Discord with more features for server owner and encryption. Source: over 1 year ago
