Python and Qt Simplified. Create a Python GUI in Minutes\ (25 comments). Source: about 2 years ago
There are great alternatives. I used Python and Qt to create my file manager [1]. It's a tool that needs to start quickly so Electron was not an option [2]. I open sourced my build system for creating cross-platform desktop apps with it in minutes at https://build-system.fman.io/. 1: https://fman.io 2: https://fman.io/blog/picking-technologies-for-a-desktop-app-in-2016/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
There's also Fman's Build System (FBS): https://build-system.fman.io/ It's got some very similar features to BeeWare and the author is on Hacker News somewhere... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
New to the Qt ecosystem and and really looking for a nice pattern or toolset for structuring a Cross-platform desktop app. I came across fbs which looks great for structuring, building and packaging. I'm just not comfortable spending $299 just yet for a tool when I am so new. Yes there is the the free version, but is limited to old python and old PyQt*. Source: over 2 years ago

I've had decent experiences with Python and Qt5. Windows was historically the painful part, but FBS¹ makes that a lot less painful nowadays. Tk also works reasonably well if you don't need the features and native integration that Qt offers (and I'm pretty sure FBS can handle Tkinter apps just fine). The .NET ecosystem is another solid choice for cross-platform desktop app development (and nowadays even mobile,... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
If you have access to Python 3.5 or 3.6, you can use my open source library https://build-system.fman.io to create a Python / Qt app with an installer for all the OSs in minutes. Python 3.7-3.9 is also supported, but only available commercially. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Fbs author here; The Pro version of fbs [1] now supports Python > 3.6 and recent Qt versions. 1: https://build-system.fman.io. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
This(https://build-system.fman.io/) looks interesting for building and distributing cross platform python-applications. Didn’t test it yet. - Source: Hacker News / about 3 years ago
