  • Remote Unit for Ecobee
Flair pucks work with Ecobee. Here’s the link. Haven’t used personally but I’ve been researching their smart vents. Source: 11 months ago
  • Upstairs much hotter than downstairs
My remedy for a similar problem was Flair smart vents. Source: about 1 year ago
  • I'm new to smart thermostats and need help with sensors and comfort settings
This could be automated on a schedule and more effective by motion sensors in each zone with https://flair.co/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Launch HN: Electric Air (YC W23) – Heat pump sold direct to homeowners
Good question. The uniform temp is really within a room, what you're describing is the not uncommon experience of having unbalanced duct work. A few options for you (1) DIY or pro duct balancing. You change the position of dampers and vents, might have to modify duct work (2) actuated zone dampers, these live in the duct work and install is expensive (3) a smart vent that you can DIY, battery life is surprisingly... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Launch HN: Electric Air (YC W23) – Heat pump sold direct to homeowners
You could always use smart vents (e.g. https://flair.co/) to eliminate some of the inefficiencies with ducted systems. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Any simple solutions to power these dampers and to open or close manually from wifi or automatically from Ecobee sensor?
Ecobee sensors can be used to control Flair dampers. https://flair.co/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Ecobee calculates averages, and is a pretty disappointing product.
What do you expect it to do? All the ecobee can do is heat or cool the entire house. If one room is too hot and the other too cold, then doing either one would make one room better and the other worse. If you routinely have differences between rooms you can set it to run the fan periodically to try to even things out. If you want to give the system more granular control then you need a smart vent system such as... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Sending either 3.3v or 12v dc over the long distance.
Or just buy Flair Vents that do exactly this. I run mine off 24VAC, as I just connected them to the doorbell transformer. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Upgraded my human cpu cooler to a 420mm invisible rad
I wouldn’t expect everyone to understand internet joking. Btw, got these for our baby’s room. https://flair.co/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Fuck the Sun
Smart vent covers aware of and taking their cues from the Ecobee system. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • New system - single stage, variable speed, new returns: something doesnt add up
Since there is no room for dampers, what about something like this("smart vents"): https://flair.co/ I have read the posts on this topic, and know there are mixed feelings about them because of backpressure concerns, but they are literally the only option get a zoned, ducted system in this house. • Can not get one of the rooms in my house above 70 degrees in the winter. What can be done? It’s a 1200 sq Ft home with a furnace in the basement. Most of the rooms feel pretty good. But I can feel the heat significantly cooler than other rooms coming out of the vent in the wall.
Smart vents. Changed my whole house's heating profile and makes things balanced out year round. A bit expensive investment up front, but cheaper than pulling down drywall and re-ducting your house. Two options are Keen and Flair. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Adding new furnace vents in the basement.
It's probably not a perfect solution, but you could look at the Flair smart vents. I've been toying with the idea to solve a similar problem in my basement. It's a simpler project than messing with your ducting. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Cost to convert centralized heating to decentralized heating
Great suggestion. Flair is another, similar product. https://flair.co/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Flair vs Airtap
Flair product page: https://flair.co. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Issues with Ecobee Smart Thermostat Pro + SmartSensors
If like me you find there's always an imbalance between rooms or floors, you should look into smart vents such as Flair, which can help even out the differences by automatically opening and closing based on each sensor's temperature. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Using two ecobee thermostats?
You might look into adding smart vents such as Flair to your existing system. If you let the Flair control your HVAC system, then you can have one or more of their pucks, basically room sensors with their own adjustable setpoints, at multiple locations in your home, and it'll use a combination of opening and closing vents and adjusting the HVAC setpoint to try to maintain the set temperatures at each puck.
