I use Mailgun myself, but https://emailoctopus.com might be worth a look. Like Sendy they also use Amazon SES, so should be pretty cheap. And then you wouldn't have to deal with hosting it yourself, unlike Sendy. They say they have a developer API so maybe you can get metrics from that. I think it's a great idea that you're going the SSG route but one suggestion I'd make is to connect your content to a CMS. Since you're looking for newsletter functionality, I can highly recommend Ghost which now offers newsletter functionality built-in. If cost is an issue, you can host Ghost on Heroku free-tier, access its data "headlessly" and then generate your pages using the SSG of your choice.
