  • After replaying some Labyrinth of Touhou 2 and still being entranced by the 2hu-inspired particle effect, I've been starting the dip into trying to make similar 2hu particle effects just for shits and giggles. Here's to even more horrible shitposts
    To my knowledge, there are already some particle generators such as by Unity but the program I'm using is called Effekseer, which happens to be used a handful of JP 2hu doujin game creators. Honestly, I can admit I can sense the skill curve in FX making but it'd be killing 2 birds in one stone in trying to be acquainted with the software but to also appreciate the spellcard patterns in the making.     To sort of expand upon what other people have said, MZ uses a 3D particle generator for its animations. A free third party program called Effekseer is required in order to make the animations. The benefits of this is that you can make much nicer animations, and that it's likely a bit easier for non-artists to do so.
