Try donjon.bin.sh and whip up a quick level or two. You get to set the parameters for size, density, etc, and it includes descriptions. For a quick dungeon it is hard to beat. You can also print your map and a players map. Source: 10 months ago

  • My personal step-by-step guide to running a Science Fiction Horror themed TTRPG game.
    9) Create the locations the players can go to and find or make maps for some of them. Rooms, compartments, hallways. I make a general map of the location ( or find one online) that fits my idea. I write a few details for each location (medical room, loosely strewn equipment, loose floor panel will collapse if stepped on making noise, blood stains trailing to the vent) and move on. Don’t want to get bogged down on... Source: 11 months ago
  • Newbie GM here
For dungeons I find a random map, using Donjon if I don't find one that matches better, build and clutterify it in Dungeondraft, then import it to Foundry. I figure out the general types of monsters they'll face there (these are ancient ruined labs, the monsters are mostly ethereal undead, abberations, and some constructs and elementals) then I sort through AoN for a while picking out interesting looking beasties... • What do you do when not playing D&D?!
Checkout various tools and resources if you're interested in running a game, such as Kobold Fight Club (https://koboldplus.club/) or Donjon (https://donjon.bin.sh/). Source: 12 months ago
  • Donjon to Homebrewery v2
This tool takes a randomly generated dungeon from donjon.bin.sh and turns in into nicely (as good as I can make it anyway) formatted homebrewery markdown. You then copy and paste the text into a new homebrewery document. It also attempts to add page breaks in logical places. Source: 12 months ago
  • First Time Solo Player! Questions about Resources.
You don't absolutely need the DMG, though it would be a wise investment if you're going to play a long campaign. Ditto for the Monster Manual. The online SRD should have everything you need to start. Also, check out the 5e generators at https://donjon.bin.sh/ . You can fill in a lot of gaps with those. Source: 12 months ago
  • Which game has your favourite dungeon generator in it?
Https://donjon.bin.sh/- which has various generators for all sorts of things & different RPGs. IIRC (some?) of the dungeon/adventure generators were based on some of the books (like the old 2nd Ed D&D ones listed above), as well as some things from S. John Ross. Source: 12 months ago

  • Good books for beginning DMs?
Good monster books are always welcome additions to any DM’s library. I would recommend starting with the Tome of Beasts series and the Monster Manual Expanded series. Hundreds of well put together monstrosities to throw at your players there. That second website, DM’s Guild, is one you’re going to want to peruse for good content down the road, along with Drive Thru RPG. While you’re at it, bookmark Donjon because...
