  • How are you tracking Covid spikes in your area?
I also follow this site: https://covidactnow.org. Source: 11 months ago
  • Reliable COVID trackers
I use covidactnow.org but I have no idea how reliable it is. It does track transmission stats futher down. Source: about 1 year ago
  • is the current covid wave peaked in OK yet?
FWIW I follow along on covidactnow.org. Source: over 1 year ago
  • 12/20 - 1/4 testing data finally updated: 13.33% average positive test rate; 10,377 average tests per day
No, this means that over 1 in 10 people getting tested for covid actually have covid. Doesn’t have anything to do with the people you encounter, this percentage is really only useful for seeing whether or not we’re testing enough. A low test positive rate means we’re testing enough and recording most cases while a high one means we’re not(and missing a lot of cases). Of course home testing has changed the game... • What happened to covid
Oh it’s still around. They still give updates on the morning news, they’ve pulled back most restrictions and still urge people to be safe and get vaccinated https://covidactnow.org/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • BTRTN: On Covid Data and Magical Thinking
Covid protocols were never meant to protect us from testing positive from covid, they were to protect us from death, or from so many of us becoming severely ill at once that it shuts down our healthcare system or our entire society. This is not currently a risk. Covid patients currently fill only 2-8%= of hospital beds in the US, depending on the state. https://covidactnow.org/ this is not the same crisis that it... • The CDC endorses Novavax, a more traditional COVID vaccine, for adults
Also another good resource is https://covidactnow.org. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • 7/11/2022--VOCs, Daily Numbers, Test kits, Editorials.
Thanks for all your data links and info. I know the cdc has the low medium high community covid risk guidelines, but does anyone know of any other resources that have a covid risk assessment for the week type thing like checking the weather before going outside? I’ve been checking covid infections and hospitalizations before going to social events. I really like this risk estimator:... Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Alameda went back to an indoor mask mandate....LA County might follow within the week
Now they simply are not listening to the data... This supposed surge in an omicron variant is already flattening out, just like the Delta did. According to covidactnow.org at least. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Interesting Graph from Met Council Wastewater site - by variant and date
In my county and the counties around it, infection rate reached it peak and going down, and covidactnow.org is showing MN reaching it peak and starting go down. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Masks at the gym
The people who never thought covid was a real problem aren't wearing masks for obvious reasons. Those of us who were very concerned about it have been vaccinated and boosted. If you're fully immunized, not in a high risk group or spending time with high risk people, and you're in a gym with decent ventilation, then wearing a mask isn't anywhere near as important as it was at the beginning of the pandemic. Exactly... Source: almost 2 years ago
  • WHO warns coronavirus is far from settling into endemic situation
Look at wastewater data from your county(or neighboring counties if yours isn't reporting) here: https://biobot.io/data/. Look at the percentage of tests that are positive in your county on websites like https://covidactnow.org. If either of those two things are high, assume covid is spreading fast in your area and that your best course of action as an immunocompromised individual is to stay home unless absolutely... • Being pressured to name a "metric" that will determine when I feel okay ending our workplace mask mandate.
Https://covidactnow.org is might got to still for now. I understand they are incorporating the new cdc guidelines but so far very few places are green yet. Source: about 2 years ago
  • 3/15-3/16 - 1,540* new cases (770/day); 118** new deaths (59/day); 4.85/2.51% positive test rate; 15,769/31,462 tests
Probably. Check your county on https://covidactnow.org and decide if you’re comfortable with the risk. Source: about 2 years ago
  • CDC considering revising Masking Guidelines
I feel at this point we know enough about how covid spreads that official guidance on masking doesn't matter much to most people. If you don't want to catch covid (with very high probability), wear n95 or better mask+tight fitting glasses and it doesn't matter what others around you are doing. If you don't care about COVID do whatever with your masking. I plan to mask up with n95 in risky situations, long... Source: about 2 years ago
  • DC to Drop Mandates on Masks, Proof of COVID Vaccination
Let's pretend you're not being disingenuous. Go here https://covidactnow.org/ Click on any state, scroll down to cases. Do you see that? The spike then decline? No one is giving up. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Looking at COVID risk levels in the US, it's hard not to be proud of Maryland. Been like this for at least a week now.
Here's today's county map from https://covidactnow.org which is sourced by the NYT. Source: about 2 years ago

  • dr appointment in 45 mins, nervous but hopeful
BTW, I do see a PMHNP, bc I found they make more sense than the MDs! She was one of the ones I told the PMHNP that valium works; I will not discuss anything else. I'm a scientist. You can't bullshit me. *I actually got up to leave*, "I'll pay at the window, we will not see each other again, you are a cruel person to deny functionality to another person!" HER: "okay then, you want valium or klonopin?" [my thought,... Source: about 2 years ago
  • This is why we are 2 years into a pandemic (not OC)
Is worse now, I zoomed in on my county using this site covidactnow.org , (click state then county on the map) we have more cases now than ever. As I mentioned elsewhere, I think my niece has it now. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Texas shows the dangers of indifference to omicron
