Hey all, I know the traditional answer is "no" to this question, but I'm wondering if anyone know the more nuanced system of federal loan codes and how they are administered. This loan was consolidated by myfedloan.org back in 2015, and then transferred to MOHELA in 2019. Basically I'm wondering if MOHELA knows this used to be a Parent PLUS loan, because on the loan details it says nothing about being parent... Source: 10 months ago
I saw a website called myfedloan.org on google. Is it like a third-party company too? Source: over 1 year ago
If your current servicer is FedLoan Servicing, check your online portal at https://myfedloan.org for the most recent information on your qualifying payments. If your current servicer is MOHELA, check your online portal at https://www.mohela.com for the most recent information on your qualifying payments. If you are signing into your MOHELA online portal for the first time, you will need to create an online... Source: over 1 year ago
I never had an issue with myfedloan.org but they dont exist anymore. Source: over 1 year ago
Like you, I never received any communication from https://myfedloan.org/ either when I got forgiven. Source: over 1 year ago
I believe so. You should check out myfedloan.org and confirm that your husband's loans are serviced there. If neither of you have accessed it before, there is an option to create an account under 'sign in'. Source: over 1 year ago
...since I'm in the 10 day period currently but I have all forms filled out, should I upload to myfedloan.org? There is a place to upload PSLF forms on that website but the consolidation is not complete yet. Would love to get started on getting the qualifying payments counted, etc. Source: about 2 years ago
I started to file a consolidation application in February and then cancelled it. I since have decided that I do need to consolidate but when I go to studentaid.gov to start an app; it says I already have one started and need to check the status on myfedloan.org. When I go there it says cancelled. No where is there a link or anything to start a new one or renew that one. Any ideas? I have been on hold for... Source: about 2 years ago
ED is working with FedLoan Servicing to update the payment counts. Letters sent by FedLoan Servicing prior to the week of February 7, 2022, would not include payment counts under the limited PSLF waiver (if applicable to you). For your most up-to-date information please log into your borrower account with the FedLoan Servicing. Source: about 2 years ago
New updates to counts for PSLF in next two monthshttps://myfedloan.org/. Source: about 2 years ago
Thanks for sharing the info. I just logged in to myfedloan.org. Underpayments and billing I have just tabs for options to make payments (one-time pmt., automatic pmts, etc. But no PSLF tracking tab). My payment history just shows the consolidation. Still, the info. You provided is helpful. I will continue checking it. Source: about 2 years ago
If your loan(s) were transferred / consolidated from another Servicer, the Previous Servicer's site may say "loan paid in full." During the loan transfer process, the Dept of Education's website may say the same. In other words, as far as the Previous Servicer's concerned, the Previous Servicer, which once held your loans, was "paid in full." Assuming you did transfer to Fedloan, check myfedloan.org for loan... Source: about 2 years ago
If you plan for PSLF, permanently or by trial, you should be moving loans to myfedloan.org /PHEAA. You've mentioned a phone call one giving you $210. Which servicer did you speak with? Third time calculating my be the charm. Source: over 2 years ago
Https://www.aessuccess.org is the address of American Education Services and like myfedloan.org , is part of PHEAA.. I just went on their website & logged in. It serviced my FFEL (and misinformed me about PSLF). If myfedloan.org is using that email address...how stupid. Glad you forwarded it to TISLA. I wouldn't have answered it either. Source: over 2 years ago
It's lazy, stupid & scary in-action by myfedloan.org . And it won't change. Frankly, it's not that difficult to adjust 1 computer program response for 1 year. This Servicer handles PSLF. It's their (expletive) job. Public agencies with lesser funding are able to execute a temporary change like this. Sorry it freaked you out. Hope it will not shorten your life-span. As Fedloan never ever raised my count from 29... Source: over 2 years ago
File complaint with Ombudsman (see links at Dept of Educ & bottom of myfedloan.org page). Source: over 2 years ago
I still distrust the system. The numbers are with Nelnet, which will be sent or have been sent over the last 11 years (who really knows?) to Dept of Education. Payment history won't go to Fedloan once everything is in place. Dept of Education will have their numbers as sent to Dept of Education by Nelnet. Dept of Education will tell Fedloan. Don't be freaked out if myfedloan.org says payment count is 0. It... Source: over 2 years ago
If your loans are already Direct Loans, you don't have to consolidate. You Do have to move them to myfedloan.org. Despite the Old Rules, pre Waiver, during This Waiver, ending in October, once you have Direct Loans serviced by myfedloan.org and enroll in PSLF, your 71 previous payments will be credited towards PSLF. Contact myfedloan.org to start the process. Again, if your present loans Are Direct Loans, No... Source: over 2 years ago
For PSLF You must have a Direct Loan(s). The Direct Loan must be serviced by myfedloan.org. Contact Fedloan to initiate this process ASAP if your loans are FFEL. You will receive retroactive credit towards PSLF once the FFEL are consolidated into a Direct Loan. PSLF program began 10/2007. FFEL and some other loans will receive credit for repayment back to 10/2007 only during this waiver period and only if they... Source: over 2 years ago
I was able to with MyFedLoan. https://myfedloan.org/. Source: over 2 years ago
There is a discrepancy between myfedloan.org and studentaid.gov. myfedloan.org lists all of my loans as being Direct loans, which is what I recall. However, the studentaid.gov website reports that I have at least one loan that isn't a Direct loan. Should I worry about this discrepancy? I'm less than a year away from being eligible for forgiveness, if I've kept track properly. Source: over 2 years ago
