  • Supreme Commander Graphics Study
And, for completion, with the same engine that beyond all reason is done, but with a different game play feeling: https://zero-k.info/ I personally prefer Zero-K (flatter tech tree, territory can be more important), but both are great games. - Source: Hacker News / 26 days ago
  • OpenRA – Classic strategy games rebuilt for the modern era
I'll take this opportunity to recommend Zero-K[1] for those who were into Total Annihilation. It's truly excellent! [1]: https://zero-k.info/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Deadlands in Beyond All Reason (BAR)
Zero-k (https://zero-k.info/) on the same engine supports custom maps. How would you feel about uploading / other people uploading the map? Source: 10 months ago
  • What is your favorite open source Linux game? Mine is Wideland (Best way to describe is the way Settlers 3 should have been)
My current favorite is Beyond All Reason. Before BAR, my favorite was Zero-K. Both BAR and zk use the same game engine, SpringRTS. BAR and zk are very similar to one another, and they're successors for Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Which strategy/management game for a LAN ?
Zero-K and Beyond All Reason have some kind of tower defense mode. Both are FOSS and run on the same engine (Spring). Source: about 1 year ago

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty mentions (12)

Warzone 2100 (Free) is a real time strategy from 1999 that's since been adopted by open source, and thus still gets periodic updates. It has a solid campaign with a fair amount of variety. Zero-k (Free) may also be of interest, and though it's primarily multiplayer oriented it has a rather lengthy optional campaign that's good for developing RTS fundamentals. I believe Starcraft 2: Wings Of Liberty is also... Source: 11 months ago
  • Does anyone know what this is? Or…..rather…..was?
By the ways, both StarCraft II and World of Warcraft have free-to-play content where you can see both of these notable easter eggs. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Advice for a few mechanics
Starcraft 2 is apparently free to play https://starcraft2.com/en-us/, so you can try that. I've come to dislike RTS games that use units whose main purpose is to collect resources around the map and/or build your buildings, so I never got into Starcraft. I've heard a lot of people really respect the game though. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Strategy game for Beginners
Starcraft 2 would be a good start, the game is free, it has a good difficulty curve and a great campaign if you decide to buy it. Source: about 2 years ago
