I find the feedback of a physical object very useful. I've also used Toggl, which is feature rich, works great as a Chrome extension, and has tons of integrations. I generally try to avoid suggesting people get something new. In your case a tool I use may help. There is a smartphone timer app called Timeglass. http://timeglassapp.io/ . You can set up multi-step timers with labels for each step and save multiple timers. You can run timers in parallel.
