Lately I've become a big fan of Micro. It's as portable as Nano. By default it uses the same shortcuts as typical desktop programs: Ctrl-S for save, Ctrl-Q for quit, Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V for copy/paste, etc. It integrates well with Linux desktops' clipboards by optionally using xclip. Eggdrop [0] and BitchX [1] come to mind. Irssi [2] has a plugin that enables Tcl scripting. I'm currently fiddling with TkCAD [3] in order to put a small CNC machine to use here, it needs some small adaptations to work on Linux, but I find it a nice find!
